Synopsis
Ash, Misty, and Brock received a message to battle the world’s greatest Pokémon trainer at New Island and they are on their way there, but it was sent from Mewto hoping to take revenge on humanity having been cloned as a weapon! Team Rocket, Team Rocket leader Giovanni, and scientist Dr. Fuji are all involved. The powerful connection between trainers and Pokémon is revealed!
Background
Mewto Strikes Back: Evolution will be a full CGI remake of the original 1998 Japanese anime movie Pokémon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back also known as Pokémon: The First Movie. The original movie was directed by Kunihiko Yuyama, the chief director of the Pokémon TV series, and was the first movie of the franchise. Kunihiko Yuyama has returned to direct the remake with fellow director Motonori Sakakibara. The movie is set to release on July 12, 2019.

Ash Kechum (Voiced by: Rica Matsumoto)
Also known as Satoshi, Ash Kachum is the main protagonist of the franchise. He is friends with Misty and Brock.

Also known as Kasumi, Misty is one of the main protagonists of the franchise. She is friends with Ash and Brock.
Brock (Voiced by: Yuji Ueda)
Also known as Takeshi, Brock is one of the main protagonists of the franchise. He is friends with Misty and Ash.
Mewtwo (Voiced by: Masachika Ichimura)
Mewto is regarded to be the strongest Pokémon. He was created in a laboratory using the DNA from the mythical Pokémon Mew and is said to lack a compassionate heart.
Mew (Voiced by: Koichi Yamadera)
Mew is a mythical Psychic-type Pokémon. It’s DNA was used to create Mewtwo. It has a mysterious past including no confirmation on how it become so powerful.
Miranda (Voiced by: Sachiko Kobayashi)
Miranda is the harbor manager at Old Shore Wharf. She meets Ash, Misty, and Brock on their way to New Island.
