Synopsis
The story follows “The Hero” Ruka who was forced into building a great temple after being stolen from his father who he watched be killed by powerful foes when he was trying to protect him as a child. When he escapes slavery 10 years later he starts a journey to uncover the secrets of his father’s past and soon finds out his mother is still alive, so he sets off on an adventure to rescue her from the underworld. And, of course, he must also make the difficult decision of who to marry…Bianca or Flora?
Background
Dragon Quest: Your Story is a 3D CG anime movie based on the 1992 Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride video game. The directors include Takashi Yamazaki (chief director and writer), Ryuichi Yagi, and Makoto Hanafusa. It will feature Koichi Sugiyam’s original music, and Yuji Horii, credited for the original story, is doing the supervision.

Ruka (Voiced by: Takeru Satoh)
Ruka is “The Hero” and protagonist of the story.
Bianca (Voiced by: Kasumi Arimura)
Bianca is Ruka’s childhood friend and the daughter of an innkeeper. She is outspoken and adventurous, describing herself as “being a bit rough around the edges.” She is one of Ruka’s options for marriage.
Flora (Voiced by: Haru)
Flora, also known as Nera Briscoletti, is a gentle, modest girl who helps anyone in need. She refers to Ruka with pet names and experiences jealousy over Bianca.
Henry (Voiced by: Kentaro Sakaguchi)
Henry, also known as Harry, is the prince of Coburg and is also captured and sold into slavery along with Ruka. He is said to have pulled pranks as a child possibly to seek attention since his father was always too busy for him and his mother passed away early in his life.
Papasu (Voiced by: Takayuki Yamada)
Papasu, also known as Pankraz Gotha, is the father of Ruka. He is a protective parent with a righteous and strong-willed spirit.
Sancho (Voiced by: Kendo Kobayashi)
Sancho is a friendly and loyal ally to Ruka. He is extremely formal and would tend to Ruka’s needs before Ruka was captured and forced into slavery.
Pusan (Voiced by: Ken Yasuda)
Pusan, also known as Dr. Agon, is a mysterious person from the Castle of Zenithia. Not much is known about him but he seems to be more than he appears.
Ludman (Voiced by: Suzuki Matsuo)
Rodrigo Briscoletti, also known as Ludman, is a wealthy man that has a charitable, kindhearted soul despite his balding hair and goatee which make him appear like a demon. He is not fond of his daughter Debora whom he feels is selfish and would be more than happy for Haku to marry and take away with him. He has opposite, fond feelings for Flora.
Surarin (Voiced by: Koichi Yamadera)
Surarin, also known as Rocket, is a friendly Slime.
Martha (Voiced by: Chikako Kaku)
Martha, also known as Madalena, is Ruka’s mother.
Bjørn (Voiced by: Arata Furuta)
Bjørn, also known as Bjørn the Behemoose, is an ancient and powerful demon the size of a mountain.
Gema (Voiced by: Kotaro Yoshida)
Gema, also known as Bishop Ladja, is a cruel and sadistic necromancer.
Mildrath (Voiced by: Arata Iura)
Mildrath, also known as Nimzo, is a powerful villain monster.
