The One I Love is My Little Sister But She's Not a Little Sister

Average in every way possible, Yu has never been much good to anyone…until his younger sister Suzuka comes to him with a request that even he can handle: become the pseudo-author of her newly serialized light novel series!

Unlike her brother, Suzuka is beautiful and popular with excellent grades and always excels at anything she puts her mind to - even writing successful light novels on a whim. Her newest novel, which is about a sister who thinks the world of her older brother, ends up winning an award and is picked up for serialization. Unfortunately for her, not only would her strict father probably not approve, but as the student council president, she’s also not allowed to hold any part-time jobs.

So, Suzuka turns to Yu so he can be the face behind the pen name “Chika Towano.” Now that the series is serialized, they have to work together to make sure it’s a success! Can it work when they are both on separate wavelengths, though? Yu seems smitten with the protagonist of the light novel and Suzuka seems smitten with Yu, even going so far as to demand they go on dates and other activities for “research purposes”...

The romantic comedy Ore ga Suki nano wa Imouto dakedo Imouto ja nai began as a light novel written by Seiji Ebisu and illustrated by Gintarou in August 2016 under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint. The manga adaptation, illustrated by Kou Narita, has been serialized in Monthly Dragon Age since December 2017.

The anime adaptation was announced in October 2017. The opening theme is “Secret Story” by Purely Monster, while the ending theme is performed by Junjo no Afilia.

Yu Nagami (Voiced by: Tasuku Hatanaka)

A high school freshman, Yu appears utterly average and talentless when compared to his successful younger sister. Admittedly, he has an inferiority complex, but rather than ooze with jealousy, she is his motivation and inspiration to do better. Unfortunately, he is also the type to fail at the things he wants to accomplish. Yu regards himself as an unreliable older brother and is under the impression that his sister hates him due to her cold mannerisms towards him. Even so, he is kind and supportive of her. After discovering light novels as a middle schooler, he became an otaku, even going so far as to try and write one, only to give up after failing to do so successfully. At the request of his younger sister, he is the pseudo-author behind the pen name Chikai Towano.

Suzuka Nagami (Voiced by: Reina Kondo)

Only in middle school, Suzuka is already known as a beautiful and intelligent girl who’s superior at everything she tries, including academics and housework. She is super popular and also the president of the student council. Towards her brother, she is cold and distant, often telling him that he should try to be more reliable since he’s older. However, she is secretly crazy about him. On a whim, she wrote a light novel about a sister that goes above and beyond for her older brother. When it unexpectedly won an award and was picked up for serialization, she had to ask her brother to step up as the pseudo-author, mainly due to her student council commitments and her strict father.
