Synopsis
Everyone is given a book when they are born and must live their life exactly in accordance with what has been written within it. However, Ekusu was born with a book in which all the pages were blank. Meeting up with the similarly burdened Reina, Tao, and Shane, Ekusu sets out on a journey to discover his destiny.
Background
Grimms Notes the Animation is inspired by the Square Enix RPG which was released for Android and iOS in Japan in January 2016 with a worldwide release the following March. The anime adaptation was announced at the Grimms Notes Kansha-sai 2018 event in January 2018 and will premiere on Jan. 10, 2019 on TBS. Ayana Taketatsu performs the first season’s opening theme, "Innocent Notes,” while the ending, "Endless Notes,” is performed by i☆Ris.
Characters
Tao (Voice by: Takuya Eguchi)
Tao is a dashing and big-hearted young man who thinks of Reina as a fine lady and has agreed to accompany her on her journey to undo the work of Chaos Tellers. He has also exchanged a vow of brotherhood with Shane and regards her as a member of the Tao family.
Shane (Voice by: Miyu Kubota)
Shane is Tao’s surrogate little sister. She likes to take things at her own pace and might seem ethereal but is often quick to see the truth of a situation and is an excellent asset to the group. She’s also crazy about serious and customized weapons.
Ekusu (Voice by: Ryota Osaka)
Eksu is a young man who was born with a blank book. He was living aimlessly with no clear fate until he met Reina and the others and decided to set off in search of his destiny. He can make the coat of arms appear which connects the souls of all the heroes.
Reina (Voice by: Reina Ueda)
Known as the “tuning princess,” Reina possesses the ability to retune the work of the Chaos Tellers to its original form and restore the land to its rightful condition. She has a mysterious past and also carries with her a book titled The Kingdom of Miniature Gardens.
