Characters

Mari Tamaki (CV: Inori Minase)
Called Kimari by her friends (from her real name Tamaki Mari), Mari is a second-year student at Tatara West High School. She is very curious and she is interested in all kinds of things, but her carefree, timid personality stands in her way of actually doing them. She loves all kinds of egg dishes, especially pudding. Shirase’s Antarctica plan left a deep impression in her, and she decided to join the journey.

Shirase Kobuchizawa (CV: Kana Hanazawa)
A second-year student in Kimari’s high school, Shirase is the daughter of Takako Kobuchizawa, a member of the Antarctic Research Expedition. She has been dreaming of going to the South Pole ever since her mother went missing during middle school. Although she has been scouted due to her captivating beauty, she is shy and taciturn. She was ridiculed for wanting to go to Antarctica, which made her think everyone around her is against her. She can be pretty careless when she talks. She loves animals, especially penguins.

Hinata Miyake (CV: Yuka Iguchi)
Although the same age as Kimari and the others, Hinata dropped out of high school and she is preparing for her university entrance exam while working part-time in a convenience store near Kimari’s high school. She is cheerful, friendly, and good at reading the atmosphere, and she has no qualms about making gags or self-deprecating jokes. She tries to come up with wise remarks at every possible opportunity, which her friends sometimes find moving, and at other times, they just shake their heads.

Yuzuki Shiraishi (CV: Saori Hayami)
An entertainer coming from Hokkaido, Yuzuki meets Kimari and her friends through her job leading to Antarctica. Although she is a year younger than the other three, she behaves more maturely as she has been working since her childhood. She is often distrustful and can seem cold compared to other girls her age. She hasn’t had a friend since she was small, and she is determined to make friends.

Gin Todo (CV: Mamiko Noto)
The leader of the private South Pole observation team Antarctica Challenge, Gin has known Takako, Shirase’s mother, since high school and joined the expedition on Takako’s invitation. She was also a member of the expedition three years ago when Takako disappeared and therefore feels responsible. Although she’s a good and dependable leader, she is often misunderstood as she doesn’t talk much.

Kanae Maekawa (CV: Yoko Hikasa)
The second-in-command of the Antarctica Challenge, Kanae knows Gin and Takako from a previous expedition. She used to work in sales. She is quick-witted, well-spoken, and popular with men. She often negotiates in place of the taciturn Gin, and for this reason, she’s rumored to be the captain behind the curtains.

Yumiko Samejima (CV: Lynn)
A so-called “Antarctic chef” and the chef of the observation team, Yumiko comes from Okinawa but she tolerates cold exceptionally well. She is a dynamic, independent person. She is also an instructor to Kimari and her friends, acting like a big sister and teaching them about various things.

Megumi Takahashi (CV: Hisako Kanemoto)
Megumi is Kimari’s childhood friend, and the two have been close since their kindergarten years. She is incredibly blunt and she’s not very good at girly things. She tends to look at things with cold eyes, and she doesn’t get excited at or immersed in things. When she saw how excited Kimari got for the Antarctica trip, she felt envy in her heart.

Rin Tamaki (CV: Kaede Hondo)
Kimari’s younger sister. Compared to her older sister, she is more responsible and accomplished, being a member of the student council at her school. She’s also very helpful. Although she’s worried for Kimari, she also supports her from the bottom of her heart.

Tamiko Shiraishi (CV: Sayaka Ohara)
Yuzuki’s mother and manager who oversees her work, Tamiko is a “stage mom” who has been working on making an entertainer out of her daughter since the day she was born. She puts all of her efforts into making Yuzuki famous.

Chiaki Mukai (CV: Masaki Terasoma)
The captain of the observation team’s ship. He used to serve as a captain on a JSDF research expedition ship, but joined the team upon Gin’s request. He was well-known for being strict in his younger years, but as he got older, his personality also got more mellow. He can make level-headed decisions and is trusted by everyone aboard.

Toshio Zaizen (CV: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka)
The communications officer of the team who is also skilled with various mechanics including computers. He is a hopeless romantic with little actual experience with women. He does a sloppy job when it concerns people he’s not interested in, which is why female team members consider him a small man. He can be very passionate about the girl he likes.

Dai Himi (CV: Jun Fukushima)
The engineer of the team, Dai is a huge, muscular man who rarely speaks. He gets along well with Toshio and the two are considered a team. He has been a big fan of Yuzuki’s for a long time, and he’s secretly very happy that she joined the expedition, but he wouldn’t talk to her for the world.

Nobue Todoroki (CV: Kana Asumi)
A geologist who tagged along with the observation team, Nobue is very serious about her research, but at the same time, she is also worried about her lover Yu-kun, whom she left in Japan. In her free time at Antarctica, she is either exchanging mails with Yu-kun or knitting.

Yume Sasaki (CV: Aya Endo)
An astronomer who joined the observation team, Yume is Takako’s kohai and respects her very much. Although she doesn’t speak much and rarely shows emotions, she is a kind soul who offers her advice to Kimari and her friends when they need it. Whenever something happens, she gazes at the sky.

Honami Yasumoto (CV: Mikako Komatsu)
A microbiology researcher who is currently in graduate school, Honami is cute and popular with guys, but she is not interested in love. Mentally, she is around the same age as Kimari and her friends, they even play together sometimes.

Takako Kobuchizawa (CV: Ai Kayano)
Shirase’s mother. Her personality is the polar opposite of that of her daughter’s, as she is a friendly, cheerful woman with rich facial expressions who can make friends with anyone regardless of where she goes. She and Gin wanted to go to the South Pole since high school and finally became members of the Antarctic expedition, that is until her unfortunate disappearance three years ago.
