Plot
41 years ago, King Cold took over Planet Vegeta, the homeworld of the Saiyans. King Cold soon gives control of the planet to his son Frieza. King Vegeta visits his son, where he notices another Saiyan child in a Special Capsule, who is introduced as Paragus’ child, Broly. The child has high latent abilities & unmeasurable power. The king is insulted that another child has outclassed his own son and exiles Broly to Planted Vampa. Paragus follows after his son to make sure he is safe.
When Paragus arrives on the planet, he sees that Broly had already killed some monsters in a cave and that he must have turned into a Great Ape. They discover that their transport pod floater is significantly damaged and is in an unusable state. Since they now only have limited food supplies, Paragus shoots down the pilot that brought him to Planet Vampa.
Meanwhile, Bardock (Goku's father) and other Saiyans are ordered to assemble at Planet Vegeta under Frieza's order. Bardock has assumptions that Frieza is planning to kill the Saiyan race and sends Kakarot (Goku) to Earth to save his child.
Frieza launches an attack on Planet Vegeta and obliterates the whole planet and its inhabitants. Raditz and Vegeta also survive, as they were on a different planet at that time. Meanwhile, Broly notices Goku’s pod flying by as it heads to Earth.
At present day, Goku and Vegeta spar together on an isolated island with Bulma, her daughter Bulla, Whis, and Beerus. Shortly after, Trunks calls Bulma and alerts her that six of the Dragon Balls have been taken by Frieza and his men. The others travel to the location of the last Dragon Ball to find it before Frieza does.
One of Frieza’s subordinates asks him what he would want to wish for with the Dragon Balls and finds out that he only wants to grow five centimeters taller to make it look like he was still growing. Meanwhile, Cheelai and Lemo, two members of the Frieza Force, arrive on Planet Vampa to respond to a distress call made by Broly and his father.
Paragus and Broly introduce themselves to Frieza, who tells them that Vegeta is alive and that Frieza would assist them in their revenge. During their lunch, Broly breaks loose after clashing with another member of the Frieza Force and Paragus displays a control of Broly through a remote device. Cheelai steals the device and breaks it. After this, Cheelai offers Broly some water, to which Broly tells her the story of his old friend, Ba.
Ba was a monster that Broly used to train with, but Paragus shoots Ba’s ear off and tells him to not befriend the creature. Broly kept Ba's ear with him to remember him.
Then Cheelai and Lema are assigned to find the last Dragon Ball finds the last Dragon Ball and the group all head off to the location. Whis and the others arrive before Frieza and Goku asks them to return the Dragon Balls they stole. Frieza then arrives with Paragus and, after seeing Vegeta, allows Broly to fight the two.
Broly fights Vegeta, who uses his Super Saiyan form and surprises Paragus. Broly, however, seems to get stronger with every attack, which lets him stand up to Vegeta’s Super Saiyan God form.
Goku then challenges Broly after turning into a Super Saiyan, however, as the fight goes on, Broly continues to adapt and grow ever stronger. Goku attempts to use his Super Saiyan God form to restrain and calm Broly. Broly, however, continues on his rage and began to destroy the landscape, causing Frieza’s group to move farther away with the Dragon Balls.
Goku turns into Super Saiyan Blue and finally begins to start overpowering Broly, though Frieza then announces that Paragus was killed, when sends Broly into an even stronger rage, destroying everyone nearby, even Frieza.
Goku and Vegeta use Instant Transmission to travel to Piccolo and attempt to perform the fusion dance. Their first few attempts ended in failure, but on the third try, they successfully fuse into Gogeta.
They head back to the battleground, where Frieza had already transformed into his Golden form, but was badly injured. Gogeta launches continuous attacks on Broly and nearly finished it with a Final Kamehameha, but Cheelai gathers the Dragon Balls together and wishes for Shenron to send Broly back to Planet Vampa. Cheelai and Lemo escape, but are attacked by Frieza. Gogeta interferes, however, forcing Frieza to surrender.
Meanwhile, Beerus is relieved that the situation turned out all right. Cheelai and Lemo head to Vampa and find Broly. Frieza learns about Cheelai and Lemo’s location, but chooses to simply place them under supervision while he tends to his planet trading business.
Cheelai and Lemo begin living on Vampa, but have problems keeping a supply of food when Goku suddenly appears with housing, food, and Senzu beans. While there, Goku mentions that he would like to spar with Broly every now and again.
