OtapediaDragon Ball Super Broly Movie Soundtracks - Dragon Ball

Dragon Ball Super: Broly is the twentieth anime movie of the Dragon Ball franchise overall and the first to be included in the Dragon Ball Super series. The film was directed by Tatsuya Nagamine and written by Akira Toriyama. It is also the third Dragon Ball movie released in the 2010s, after Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection “F”. It was released in Japan on December 14, 2018 and is the fourth anime movie starring the character Broly, though it is the first one to be considered officially canonical since, unlike the previous three, it was written and supervised by Toriyama directly. As such, some aspects of Broly’s design, character, and backstory were changed from his original, non-canonical counterpart. That said, much of Broly is just as fans likely remember him.

Summary

The film is set after the Tournament of Power in a time when the Earth is at peace. Goku, realizing that there are still extremely strong people in the universe, continues to train himself to become stronger. However, one day, Frieza appears on Earth with a mysterious Saiyan named Broly, who confronts Goku and Vegeta. The first part of this movie is based on the Dragon Ball Minus manga, which tells the origin of Goku and many of the events that lead up to his arrival on Earth. Much of the rest of the movie focuses on Goku and Vegeta’s struggles to defeat the incredibly powerful Legendary Super Saiyan.

Premiere

The movie was distributed in Japan by Toei Company in collaboration with 20th Century Fox, with a premiere held on December 14, 2018, while its international distribution was left in charge of 20th Century Fox. The company Funimation acquired the rights for its broadcast in cinemas in the United States and Canada. In these countries, the movie was broadcast in IMAX, MX4D and 4DX format.

The Dragon Ball Super: Broly world preview was held at the Nippon Budokan Stadium located in the city of Tokyo on November 14, 2018. This event had a limited audience of 1000 people, which were selected through a raffle made by the Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine.

To the surprise of many fans of the Dragon Ball series, when the soundtrack was released (but before the movie was aired) many discovered that the song titles were arranged so that they provide relevant information about the story that was going to happen within the movie. This information seemed to be deliberated displayed in chronological order, starting with the rebirth of Frieza’s army, then focusing on the story of Broly. The theme song “Bardock Falls” made fans suspect that he could end up dying in this part of the story.

Fans then theorized that the story would talk about the past of the Saiyan (“The Wild Child, Broly”) and finally also about the battle against Goku and Vegeta. Here, the expected fusion between Goku and Vegeta would take place, giving life to Gogeta, which would mark the climax of the fight that would end with a powerful Kamehameha.

The song called “Friendship With Broly” raised many doubts among fans before the movie’s release, as the case of the legendary Saiyan befriending someone would cause Broly’s story to end in a significantly different way than what was shown in his previous appearances.
