Plot

On his own planet, King Kai senses an early awakening of Beerus, the God of Destruction. Goku is off training and overhears the discussion of Lord Beerus and gets excited to meet a new powerful opponent.

Whis wakes Lord Beerus at the same time Beerus bomb alarm clock sets off. Beerus gets irritated with Whis singing to wake him up and gets up, yawning. While having breakfast, he is surprised after Whis tells him that Frieza was defeated.

Whis shows the battle between Frieza and Goku. Beerus remembers a dream or premonition of a Super Saiyan God and asks his attendant to find the Saiyan. Whis tracks the location of Goku and departs. Meanwhile, Bulma celebrates her birthday and is upset that Goku is not joining the celebration.

King Kai senses that Beerus is coming and warns Goku. Beerus asks to meet Goku, and King Kai smacks Goku for acting so casually toward a God. Beerus asks Goku if he knows about Super Saiyan God, but Goku has no idea. Goku asks for a quick sparring match from Beerus and he powers up to his [Super Saiyan 3](/otapedia/anime/dragon_ball/super_saiyan_3 form, though the God of Destruction makes quick work of Goku before going to Earth.

On Earth, Vegeta is warned of Beerus’ arrival by King Kai. To keep them preoccupied, Vegeta invites Beerus and Whis to join in the party. Pilaf, Mai and Shu (who are currently all children after wishing for youth) sneak into the party to steal the Dragon Balls, they see all of the gifts in Bulma's storage and end up vandalizing them.

Beerus is surprised not only by the food, but the presents as well. Mai and the others try to escape, but everybody notices one of the Dragon Balls fall out of her pocket. Pilaf picks it up while Mai attempts to take Trunks as a hostage. Gohan transforms into his superhero costume, thinking that it's all a game. Mai fires but Gohan manages to deflect the bullets, though Videl ends up getting hit. Dende quickly heals her, but senses that she is pregnant, though Videl tells him to keep it secret.

One of the bullets hits Beerus' head, though he is unfazed by it. Vegeta continues to try his best to keep him distracted. Beerus decides to get food again at the Buffet table. Beerus then asks for one of Majin Buu’s puddings, but he refuses, angering the god. A battle finally breaks out at the party.

Everyone charges on Beerus, even Vegeta. Meanwhile, Whis watches while enjoying some sushi. No one is capable of even touching Beerus. In complete anger and frustration, Bulma slaps Beerus, who returns the blow right back, sending Vegeta into a rage strong enough to land a few hits on Beerus.

Goku, after watching some of the battle, decides to summon Shenron and ask what exactly a Super Saiyan God is. He learns that it takes six Saiyans to create a Super Saiyan God. Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, and Goten attempt to transform Goku into a Super Saiyan God, but fail because they are still one short. Videl takes this opportunity to tell Gohan that she is pregnant, which conveniently makes six Saiyans in total.

The group tries once more and begins flowing their energy into Goku, allowing him to turn into a Super Saiyan God. Beerus and Goku then fight on the condition that the Earth will not be destroyed if Goku can win. Although Goku is disappointed that he can only reach this form with the help of others, they continue fighting.

Beerus takes the upper hand, telling Goku that his pride will be a result of his downfall. Beerus taunts Goku to use his full power, but Goku charges at Beerus with his Super Saiyan form instead.

The two begin to fire an attack at each other, though Goku seems to be struggling. Goku, however, manages to absorb Beerus’ attack and he turns into a Super Saiyan God once again, though Goku is rendered exhausted. Beerus considers using Hakai on Goku, but decides not to, as he tells Goku that he is the second strongest fighter he knows (Whis being the first).

Whis enjoys his parfait, while Beerus brings Goku back to the ground. Since Goku failed, Beerus begins to destroy Earth, but simply destroys a single rock. Beerus apologizes to Bulma and is even invited to the party next year.

Whis and Beerus leave Earth, much to the Kais’ surprise. Meanwhile, back on Earth, the party continues. Goku teases Vegeta about rampaging on Beerus because of Bulma, causing him to blush.
