Action Figures - Dragon Ball

From April 2007 to March 2019, the Dragon Ball franchise has grossed more than ¥90 billion from toy sales and sold over 1 million Dragon Ball action figures back in 2018 just in America and Europe alone, making them one of the highest grossing media franchises of all time in the same year. For over thirty years, the Dragon Ball franchise has given its fan fantastic collections of action figures and model kits. Although the Dragon Ball franchise has noticeably more male characters, there is a remarkable balance of popularity in both male like Goku and Vegeta and female characters like Android 18, Bulma, and Launch that are great collectables in the Dragon Ball merchandise.

Toei, Funimation, & Bandai

Over the years, numerous companies have had their hands in developing the franchise’s merchandise, but the three current ones are Toei Animation, Funimation Entertainment, and Bandai Co.

Toei manages the Dragon Ball series and, back in 2017, made a new licensing agreement with Funimation which are a mass mark distributor for the Dragon Ball franchise and its merchandise.

Bandai is one of the largest toy producers in the world and is responsible for the majority of the franchise’s toys, model kits, and action figures. Bandai has a direct partnership with Toei Animation as well as distributors like Funimation as well as other officially recommended anime stores.

Bandai Dragon Stars

High-detailed 6.5” action figure. Their poses are customizable and each action figure comes with an extra set of hands, energy blasts, and more opinions of posing the action figure. There were six waves of Dragon Stars for a total of 35 action figures released.

The first wave: Vegeta, Super Saiyan Vegeta, Super Saiyan Goku, Frieza Final Form, Beerus, and Goku.
The second wave: Zamasu, Super Saiyan Rose Goku Black, Super Saiyan Future Trunks, Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta, Super Saiyan God Goku, and Hit.
The third wave: Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken x10 Goku, Super Saiyan Cabba, Super Saiyan Blue Vegito, Mystic Gohan, Jiren, and Golden Frieza.
The fourth wave: Vegito, Vegeta, Ultra Instinct Goku, Super Saiyan Gohan, Goku Black, and Future Trunks.
The fifth wave: Android 17, Super Saiyan 3 Goku, Cell Final Form, Frieza First Form, Super Saiyan 4 Goku, and Piccolo.
The sixth wave: Android 18, Super Saiyan Broly, Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks, Majin Buu Final Form, Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta, and Super Saiyan 2 Gohan.

Bandai Dragon Stars Nano

1.5” action figures that come in a set of four two-packs. It’s high-detailed and each set comes with display rods and stands which allow the owner to pose them against one another. The four packs consist of Super Saiyan Blue Goku vs. Jiren, Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta vs. Golden Frieza, Super Saiyan Future Trunks vs. Hit, and Super Saiyan Rose Goku Black vs. Piccolo.

SCultures Figures

Action figures that consist of Master Roshi, Gogeta, Goku, and Trunks that are all posed in they’re in the middle of battle.

Full Power Broly and Cheelai is scheduled to be released in February 2020.

World Collectable Figure

2.75” action figures that have every main character of the Dragon Ball series that comes in a box set. The minimum amount of figures of the box set is four and the maximum is 12. 5th Anniversary Goku, Standard Goku, Super Saiyan Goku, Super Saiyan God Goku, Cunber, Super Saiyan Xeno Gohanks, and Super Saiyan 3 Xeno Gohanks can be bought by themselves.

Vol.1 Box of 6 Figures is scheduled to be released in June 2020.
5th Anniversary SS3 Goku and 5th Anniversary Set of 5 are scheduled to be released in March 2020.
Diorama Vol.4 Set of 4 Figures and Super Saiyans Box of 12 are scheduled to be released in February 2020.
Vol.2 Box of 6 Figures is scheduled to be released in March 2020.
Vol.3 Box of 6 Figures is scheduled to be released in July 2020.

Dragon Ball Gals

Exclusively the main female characters of the Dragon Ball franchised with more attention to sexualize the characters. Android 21 in her transformation form, Android 18 version IV, Videl in a recovery girl outfit, and Bulma in a bikini-style army outfit.

Glitter & Glamours

Like Dragon Gals, these action figures are exclusively the main female characters of the Dragon Ball series. Android 18 in both a blue shirt and white shirt, Launch version A with dark blue hair and a happy expression and version B with blonde hair and angry but confident expression, and Bulma. Both Launch action figures are scheduled to be released in May 2020.

Dragon Ball Styling

Action figures that consist of the Super Saiyan forms of Broly and Gogeta, Super Saiyan God Goku and Vegeta, and Super Saiyan Rose Goku Black as well as Chi-Chi and exclusive Chi-Chi.

Super Saiyan Rose Goku Black is scheduled to be released in February 2020.

Figure-Rise Model Kits

A model kit or, build your action figure sets that consists of Standard, Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan Blue Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, and Gogeta, Broly, Vegito as well as Piccolo, Krillin, Android 17, Bulma, and Frieza Final Form.
Trunks’ Time Machine and Standard Bardock Model Kit are scheduled to be released in February 2020.

Standard Krillin Model Kit is scheduled to be released in March 2020.
Standard Jiren Model Kit is scheduled to be released in June 2020.

Ichiban Kuji

Action figures that consist of Super Saiyan God forms of Goku, Gogeta, and Vegito as well as Goku Ultra Instinct that are posed stand upright with a very focused and intimidating stare.
All of the products are scheduled to be released in February 2020.
