Broly - Dragon Ball
Broly is the main antagonist of the Dragon Ball Super: Broly Movie. He is Universe 7’s legendary Super Saiyan. He is silent and shy, but very caring and pure of heart. His upbringing left him with weak social skills, however, he is shown to care about those who are kind to him. He typically wears Saiyan armor and has a green pelt wrapped around his waist. He is considerably tall for a Saiyan and has scars covering his face and body. In the Japanese version, he is voiced by Bin Shimada.

Baby Broly had a power level equal to or greater power than Prince Vegeta, leading to King Vegeta ordering the exile of the baby prodigy and his father Paragus. They crash land on the planet Vampa. Vampa is a harsh planet inhabited by spider-like creatures that incessantly attack Broly and his father. Giant teddy-bear like creatures living inside craters on the planet’s surface are also a constant threat. Broly makes friends with one of the giant creatures until his father disagrees, thinking that friendship would mean weakness. Paragus ends up shooting the creature’s ear off as a result. Using the ear as a comfort item, Broly wraps the section of pelt around his waist. The young Saiyan and his father are recruited years later by the Frieza army.
On Earth, Paragus orders Broly to attack Vegeta, and he does so with intense rage. Vegeta handles Broly without much difficulty at first, but slowly started to become overwhelmed. Before long, Broly began matching Vegeta’s base form. Vegeta then transforms into a Super Saiyan. Broly is clearly outclassed now, for a short time. He quickly catches up and forces Vegeta to transform yet again, now into his Super Saiyan God form. In an attempt to end the battle, Vegeta fires a strong energy blast at Broly that pushes him underwater and almost knocks him out. A primal rage erupts from inside Broly and he achieves his Wrath State. According to Paragus’ assumption, this is Broly activating his Great Ape form without the physical transformation. Paragus knows that Broly’s power will only continue to increase until everything is destroyed.
Son Goku decides to join the fight and joins up with Vegeta. Goku starts off in his base form and is quickly outmatched and out powered by the now furious Broly. Goku quickly resorts to using his Super Saiyan transformation just to survive the onslaught. Goku then turns to Super Saiyan God form and uses God Bind, a technique that temporarily paralyzes Broly, in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. Broly, being in an aggressive rage, doesn’t listen to Goku‘s attempt of persuasion. Instead, he manages to reverse Goku’s technique and continues his assault. Goku powers up and goes Super Saiyan Blue, which finally allowed Goku to stand on equal ground. Frieza, slightly disappointed with Broly losing the advantage, remembers that killing Krillin is what originally pushed Goku to transform into a Super Saiyan and kills Broly’s father. Frieza calls Broly to show him the lifeless Paragus to which Broly snaps emotionally and finally achieves the Super Saiyan form.
Vegeta and Goku no longer pose no threat to Broly in his newly achieved form, even working together. The two escape to practice the fusion dance while Broly continues to batter Golden Frieza for up to an hour before he changes target and attacks Whis. Broly is now a mindless fighting machine unable to be controlled. Gogeta appears in base form and manages to face off against the mighty Super Saiyan until realizing that his power needs to increase if he is to do any significant damage. Broly is still seething with fury and continues his relentless battery. Gogeta transforms again into Super Saiyan Blue after Broly reaches his Legendary Super Saiyan form. The fight continues with both fighters firing incredible attacks at each other but quickly comes to an end as Broly is now overpowered and injured. At the brink of defeat, Broly is wished back to planet Vampa by Cheelai, a member of the Frieza Force. Afterward, Broly continues to live his life peacefully. Goku suddenly arrives by instant transmission bringing supplies and Senzu beans. Broly thinks that Goku is still a threat, though Goku simply explains that he would like Broly as a training partner and can help him control his power. Broly appreciates this gesture and they part ways.
Powers and abilities
- Saiyan Power - Due to his Saiyan heritage he gets stronger as he fights.
- Eraser Cannon - A large amount of energy from around himself is gathered into a ball in his hand, which is then launched to cause massive damage.
- Gigantic Breath - A blast of green energy from the mouth.
- Energy Barrier - Broly is capable of using energy barriers. He can also fire energy blasts from this barrier when powering up.
- Legendary Super Saiyan - Broly can transform into a unique form of Super Saiyan that is often called Legendary Super Saiyan or Super Saiyan C-Type.
- Wrath State - Another form that is unique to Broly. This form has Broly accessing the power of a Great Ape transformation without physically transforming. In this state, Broly loses control of himself and is essentially berserk.
