Object Control Authority

OC Authority limits what tools, weapons, and armor the person can use without handicaps. OC Authority must be equal to the item's Priority class or greater, otherwise the item will feel unwieldy. In addition, for a sword, the "Secret moves" (Sword Skills) will not be available. The Priority class defines the maximum number of combo strikes for the sword, and a lower-Priority sword is less sturdy than a higher-Priority one.

One can increase their OC Authority by winning fights against moving creatures, and slaying the Dark Territory creatures increases it the most.

System Control Authority

SC Authority defines what Sacred Arts the person can use and the success rate thereof. The ways to increase this parameter are the same as for OC Authority, as well as by practicing the harder Sacred Arts, no matter if the attempt succeeded per se.

Hidden Parameters

There are any number of additional parameters an entity may have. The best-known one is the Transgression Quotient, also known as Taboo Breaking Index, a number that represents the person's propensity to break the laws either in speech or action. Originally used by Rath, but Quinella found it too, and used it to find and brainwash those who posed a potential threat to her regime.

Sacred Arts

Sacred Arts (神聖術 shinsei jutsu) are the set of system commands in Alicization. The Underworld natives treat them as magic, and they are presented as magic rituals and linked to the specific states of mind of the practitioner via imagination and emotion control.

Secret Moves

Secret Art Finishing Moves, commonly called secret moves, are what Underworld calls the Sword Skills. The Seed kit does not have this system, so how it ended up in Project Alicization is a mystery as for February, 2020.

The mechanics are very similar to SAO where the specific opening motion in a specific stance activates the specific skill. The major difference is that it is the sword's Priority stat that limits the maximum possible consecutive hit combo of a Secret Move. The wooden swords get enough priority for two-hit combos, while Divine Instrument class weapons with Priority of 45 to 46 have 4-hit moves.

The Human Empire had not been aware the combo moves were possible until Kirito used it.

Fluctlight Replication

If a male-female couple have pledged marriage to the god Stacia in a ceremony conducted by the village chief (or a monk or nun in a church) have sex, there is a probability of a new Fluctlight model will be generated from the parents' looks and mental specifics and loaded into an empty cube in the LightCube. The female is then pregnant for a time, and a newborn baby is formed.

Incarnation (Skill)

Incarnation (心意 shin'i) is a secret art available to the Underworld people that allows to change the world through imagination and will alone. Its mastery is passed down among Integrity Knights, but only few of them are capable of it.

Server and Mainframe Structure

Underworld was impossible to run with the old technology, and so novel hardware was developed and produced to manage the Artificial Fluctlights and mnemonic visual data of the simulated world. It is a quantum computer, the Light Quantum Gate Crystal, called LightCube for short. The LightCube is physically a cube made of praseodymium crystals and five centimeters (≈2") large. It has a storage capacity of about ten billion qubits, which is enough for a cloned Fluctlight.

The mainframe of the STL is a metal sheet-encased cube-shaped box three meters each side that contains a cluster of hundreds of thousands of LightCubes, most of which were storing one Fluctlight at the final stage.

The LightCube in the middle shaft of the Ocean Turtle is connected to two STL machines on the upper shaft and another two on the lower. The original STL prototype in Roppongi, Tokyo, was connected to the LightCube via a satellite network.

Trivia

• Underworld had an outside connection — an IPv4 address 80.103.90.150, obtained from an anonymous encrypted message sent to Alice, accessible from beyond the Ocean Turtle after the disconnection of Rath's satellite network.
