Yuuki Asuna is a main character within the Sword Art Online series and one of the 10,000 players that were locked inside the Sword Art Online game world. After realising she would forever be trapped in the game until it was finished, she gave her best effort playing as a Clearer player, knowing that any day spent in the virtual world is a real day lost in the physical world. This attitude would continue until reuniting with Kirito on the frontlines, where he was found resting and enjoying the weather on one of the game's higher floors. There time together would increase given the strange occurrences they would run into in the near future, reinforcing their existing companionship into a more serious relationship.

Asuna has long corvette orange hair that flows down to the length of her waist.
Equipped with a rapier, and in combination with her extreme skill with the blade, she was given the nickname "The Flash".

After joining the Knights of the Blood, her armour style is set to match those of the guild's trademark white and red colour scheme, inspired by the Knights Templar. Wearing a long white combat uniform, a red skirt and white ankle socks, her uniform had the insignia of the guild in various locations.

After being rescued in ALfheim online, and the expansion of the game into New Alfhiem Online, Asuna transferred her Sword Art Online avatar to the game, keeping most of her appearance the same, but altering her hair colour to be blue. As an Undine fairy, she became skilled in support magic, but alongside utilising her rapier skills from Sword Art Online, she became known as the Beserk Healer.

Asuna became a sub-leader of the Clearing guild Knights of the Blood, while being led by Heathcliff, he rarely gave full leadership, resulting in Asuna and other sub-leaders to maintain the guild. After falling in love with Kirito, or at the very least, spending a lot more time with him during the day, she would value her time spent with him more over the guild's guidelines. After an event regarding one of the guild members, a double agent for Laughing Coffin would attack Kirito while out on a guild training mission, Asuna would join Kirito in a leave of absence, putting a break on any of her duties as a leader. This would last until Heathcliff would summon the two back to the guild headquarters with regarding what would become Sword Art Online's final boss fight.

After the events of Sword Art Online, Asuna was one of 300 players that remained trapped within the virtual world of ALfheim Online. As her fiance Sugou Nobuyuki was in control of the capturing and experimentation on the players, he had specifically locked away Asuna in the game as he planned to marry her while remaining unconscious. Nobuyuki gave her the in-game role of the world's Fairy Queen Titania, as he himself played the role of Fairy King Oberon, as they lived at the top of the game's World Tree. A group of players miraculously photographed her whild performing an impressive flight trick, a photo would eventually be sent to Kirito by E-Mail, inspiring him to come rescuing her by any means possible within ALfheim Online.

History

Asuna is the child of RECT Inc's CEO Yuuki Shouzou, the company that developed the NerveGear alongside Argus and before the events of Sword Art Online, she had been arranged to be married to Sugou Nobuyuki despite the fact that she despised him. Her access to Sword Art Online was provided by her brother, as she did not own a NerveGear or a copy of the game herself. As her brother was away from home at the time of the game's launch, she instead joined the game as it went live, locking her away into the game with her life on the line. She would spend most of her time as a solo player at the start of the game, and even when partying up with Kirito for the first time in the first floor boss fight, she still barely stood out. It was only after she was inspired by him and his parting words that she would begin to push herself and be a driving force within the game.

  Asuna met Kirito when clearing the first floor boss of Aincrad, they formed a partnership in order to ensure the game would be cleared, but their friendship developed into a love interest as the events of the game progressed. The two would marry each other, forming a pact where they would not live their life in Sword Art Online if another fell in battle.
• Yui
  Yui is an AI entity that Kirito and Asuna met on the 22nd floor of Aincrad. Kirito and Asuna would come to adopt Yui as a child, while under the impression that she was a child player, and continue to do so upon when discovering her true origins
• Shinozaki Rika (Lisbeth)
  Lisbeth is Asuna's best friend in Sword Art Online. Using her blacksmith skills, Lisbeth created Asuna's main rapier arm, the Lambent Light
