Synopsis
Twelve-year-old junior high school student Koushi Nagumo finds himself alone and stranded in the city with no money when his house burns down and his father disappears. By chance, he meets a university student named Mineru Wachi who suggests that he become the dorm mother of her university’s Goddess’ Dorm. There, he meets a variety of beautiful girls all with their own quirks, including Atena Saotome, a pure-hearted girl with zero tolerance for men who gets a nosebleed whenever she comes into contact with one; Mineru, a mad scientist and researcher who conducts suspicious experiments in her room that somehow always fail and lead to toxic gas leaks; Kiriya Sensho, a brash girl who is quick to fight whenever she gets embarrassed; Frey, an avid cosplayer who is always trying to get him to wear her outfits; and Serene Hozumi, a quiet and docile girl with mysterious powers. His slightly ecchi days as a dorm mother are about to begin!
Background
Mother of the Goddess' Dormitory is a manga series written and illustrated by Ikumi Hino that has been serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shonen Ace manga magazine since December 2017. As of January 2021, it has been released in six collected tankobon volumes.
An anime adaptation was announced in May 2020 and is being produced by asread. Staff includes Shunsuke Nakashige (Fate/Grand Order: First Order, Sword Art Online: Alicization, To Love Ru: Darkness) as director with Masashi Suzuki (The Ambition of Oda Nobuna, I Couldn't Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job, The Sacred Blacksmith) handling series composition and Maiko Okada (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Rosario + Vampire Capu2, Strike Witches 2) handling character designs. The anime’s opening theme song is “Naughty Love” by the five-member unit Megami Ryousei (consisting of Ashu Nekota as Atena, Nairu as Mineru, Kukuru Kurasaka as Kiriya, Fureia as Fley, and Yuki Yomichi as Serine), and the ending theme song is “Zettai! Kimi Sengen” by Megami Ryousei+α (which adds Akira Itsuki as Sutea). The anime will premiere in Japan on July 14, 2021 in two versions: an edited version on Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, and an unedited version on AT-X.

Koushi Nagumo (Voiced by: Misuzu Yamada)
The protagonist of the series. He is a reliable and naive 12-year-old junior high school student. He is kind and considerate of others and also has a self-sacrificing side. He becomes the dorm mother of Seikan Women’s University’s Goddess’ Dorm after becoming stranded in the city with no money after his house burns down and his father disappears.
Atena Saotome (Voiced by: Ayaka Nanase (anime); Ashu Nekota (2.5 jigen))
The heroine of the series. She is a first-year student at Seikan Women’s University who lives in the Goddess’ Dorm and is extremely uncomfortable around men. She gets a nosebleed whenever she comes into contact with a man, even for just a moment.
Mineru Wachi (Voiced by: Chiaki Takahashi (anime); Nairu (2.5 jigen))
A resident of the Goddess’ Dorm and a fourth-year student at Seikan Women’s University. She carries out mysterious research in her room, which is always a complete mess. She recommends Koushi for the position of dorm mother.
Kiriya Sensho (Voiced by: Risako Murai (anime); Kukuru Kurasaka (2.5 jigen))
A second-year student at Seikan Women’s University who lives in the Goddess’ Dorm and whose parents run a dojo. She looks after and cares for her many siblings. At a glance, she seems like a stubborn and uncompromising girl who is quick to fight, but she also has a feminine side and loves shojo manga.
Frey (Voiced by: Asaki Fukuyama (anime); Fureia (2.5 jigen))
A third-year student at Seikan Women’s University and an avid cosplayer who lives in the Goddess’ Dorm. She often hangs out with Mineru. She always tries to flirt with Koushi and make him wear her cosplay outfits.
Serene Hozumi (Voiced by: Yuki Yomichi (anime and 2.5 jigen))
The head of the Goddess’ Dorm and a student at Seikan Women’s University who has no idea what grade she’s in. She uses her mysterious powers to help out Koushi and the other girls living in the dorm. She seems quiet but has a sharp tongue.
Sutea Khoroya (Voiced by: Hikaru Nanjo (anime); Akira Itsuki (2.5 jigen))
Koushi’s childhood friend and classmate at the junior high school he attends. She is a strong-willed tsundere who has had feelings for Koushi for a long time but hides them from him.
