Background

Zombie Land Saga is an original TV anime series MAPPA, Avex Pictures, and Cygames that originally aired from October and December 2018. The anime was also adapted into a manga written by Megumu Soramichi that has been serialized in Cygames’ Cycomi magazine since October 2018 with two tankobon volumes released to date.

Zombie Land Saga Revenge is the second season of the anime. It is once again being produced by MAPPA and features returning staff including Munehisa Sakai as director with Shigeru Murakoshi handling series composition, Kasumi Fukagawa handling character designs, and Funta7 and Yasuharu Takanashi composing the music. The anime’s opening and ending theme songs are "Taiga yo Tomo ni Naite Kure" and "Yume wo Te ni, Modoreru Basho mo Nai Hibi wo" both by Franchouchou. The anime will premiere in Japan on April 8 via Amazon Prime Video before debuting on Tokyo MX, AT-X, and other channels. Crunchyroll will stream the series in North America as it airs in Japan.

Mysterious idol producer. He wears a black jacket over his shoulders, a red vest with a Kojima Food Industries logo on it, and black sunglasses that he never takes off. He is an arrogant and outlandish man who brought back the seven “legendary” idols as zombies. He plans to use the Zombie Land Saga Project in order to revitalize Saga Prefecture, but no one knows the full scope of the project yet.

Sakura Minamoto (Voiced by: Kaede Hondo)
Known by her idol nickname Zombie 1, she is a 17-year-old girl who wears a signature polka dot ribbon in her long hair. She is the first of the seven zombies to be resurrected. For some reason, she lost the memories of her past life. She tends to be pushed around by the other girls and she speaks in a Kansai dialect.

Saki Nikaido (Voiced by: Asami Tano)
Known by her idol nickname Zombie 2, Saki’s characteristic features are her sharp eyes and blonde ponytail. She is the leader of the all-female biker gang Dorami and is a self-proclaimed delinquent who conquered all of Kyushu before her death at the age of 18. She is the leader of the idol group Franchouchou.

Ai Mizuno (Voiced by: Risa Taneda)
Known by her idol nickname Zombie 3, Ai’s characteristic feature is her short black hair with yellow flower decorations. She is the former center of the idol group Iron Frill, which enjoyed huge popularity during the idol boom of the 2000s. She is a good singer and a confident dancer. She has a determined personality and doesn’t hide her true feelings. The flowers in her hair increase when she goes into idol mode.

Junko Konno (Voiced by: Maki Kawase)
Known by her idol nickname Zombie 4, Tae is a beautiful girl with clear skin and a melancholy expression. She is a legendary idol who sparked the idol boom of the ‘80s and took the world by storm. She is reserved and self-deprecating but has a strong belief in idols and is the best singer of the group, though she is a bit of a bad dancer. She is often bitten by Tae.

Yugiri (Voiced by: Rika Kinugawa)
Known by her idol nickname Zombie 5, Yugiri’s characteristic features are her long hair which she ties up and her bewitching use of makeup. She has an easy-going personality and is unfazed by her surroundings and her zombie self.

Lily Hoshikawa (Voiced by: Minami Tanaka)
Known by her idol nickname Zombie 6, Lily’s characteristic features are her twintails, which she adorns with ribbons, and the star accessory on her forehead. She is a prodigious child actor who played the lead role on a popular show. Although she is the youngest of the girls, she has the courage to face any challenge. She acts innocently but sometimes shows her true feelings. She is surprisingly knowledgeable thanks to the various roles she played before her death.

Tae Yamada (Voiced by: Kotono Mitsuishi)
Known by her idol nickname Zombie 0, she has long black hair and is the only one of the seven girls who has yet to regain her consciousness. As such, she is the most zombie-like and is always chewing on something. Though she is only capable of basic grunts and moans, she seems to understand the other girls to some extent. She has a habit of biting Junko.

Policeman A (Voiced by: Hiroyuki Yoshino)
A police officer who often encounters Sakura and the other undead girls.

Romero (Voiced by: Yasuhiro Takato)
Kotaro’s pet zombie dog. His breed is supposed to be a toy poodle, but for some reason his size changes from small to large depending on the person. Because he is a zombie dog, he eats a lot of food that would normally be bad for dogs. One of his favorite foods is dried squid.
