Synopsis

Set in the year 2030 in the city of Misato in Chiba Prefecture, Yun Arikawa is a genius engineer who works at Otaki Factory who one day goes to investigate a strange, supposedly abandoned building. Mei Kamino is a graduate student researching imaginary creatures who one day goes to investigate a mysterious signal received at Misakioku, a former administration office. The two strangers visit two completely different locations for completely different reasons, yet both hear the exact same song in each place. The song connects them and leads them to an unimaginable battle with the whole world at stake. Mysteries left behind by a lone researcher, monsters appearing in various countries… Will the two be able to reverse humanity’s seemingly unavoidable future?

Background

Godzilla Singular Point is an original anime project being co-produced by studios BONES and Orange. It is being directed by Atsushi Takahashi with series composition and screenplay by Toh Enjoe, character designs by Satoshi Ishino, kaiju designs by Eiji Yamamori and music by Kan Sawada. The opening theme song is "in case..." by BiSH, and the ending theme song is "Aoi" by Polkadot Stingray. The anime will premiere in Japan on March 25 through Netflix, and broadcasts will begin on April 1 on Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, BS11 and Sun TV. It will make its worldwide premiere later in the year. The anime will run for 13 episodes.

Characters

Mei Kamino (Voiced by: Yume Miyamoto)
The protagonist of the story. She is an eccentric graduate student researching imaginary creatures. She has a bright and cheerful personality and is a genius, though she can be somewhat out of touch and often forgets things. She gets involved with the battle against Godzilla when she is asked to investigate Misakioku in place of her professor.

Yun Arikawa (Voiced by: Shoya Ishige)
The second protagonist of the story. He is an engineer who works at Otaki Factory. He is a genius in several fields including robotics and programming, but he is also a bit of an oddball who isn’t good at dealing with people. He gets involved with the battle against Godzilla after he is asked to investigate a certain house.

Haberu Kikuchi (Voiced by: Taro Kiuchi)
He works at Otaki Factory with Yun. His hobby is weightlifting and his nickname in high school was “Barbell.” He is good friends with Yun and gets involved with the battle against Godzilla together with him.

Goro Otaki (Voiced by: Wataru Takagi)
The director of Otaki Factory, he is also known as Oya-san. He is a world-renowned scientist and holder of many patents. In recent years, he has immersed himself in ways to protect the Earth, and he ends up joining Yun and Haberu in the fight against Godzilla.

Satomi Kanahara (Voiced by: Ayako Takeuchi)
An office worker at Otaki Factory. She stands out due to her punkish look thanks to her makeup, piercings, and tattoos. She supports Oya-san, Yun, and Haberu. Her personal life is a mystery.

Pero 2 (Voiced by: Misaki Kuno)
A cute dog-like AI born from the communication support AI Naratake developed by Yun that lives in Mei’s computer and supports her in her fight against Godzilla.

Jung (Voiced by: Rie Kugimiya)
An AI born from the communication support AI Naratake developed by Yun that lives in his smartphone. He has a calm personality and excellent information organization skills and helps Yun as his partner.

Shunya Sato (Voiced by: Yohei Azakami)
The chief officer of Misakioku who was transferred from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Administration Bureau by his superior. After receiving a mysterious alarm inside Misakioku, he contacts Otaki Factory, which leads him into the mystery surrounding Godzilla.

Tsunetomo Yamamoto (Voiced by: Jin Urayama)
The director of Misakioku. He is known for being a brown-noser and giving blank remarks. He always has an intrepid smile on his face, but he seems to be holding a lot of secrets...

Yukie Kanoko (Voiced by: Kotori Koiwai)
Sato’s boss in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who comes from a long line of bureaucrats. She knows a lot of state secrets.

Takehiro Kai (Voiced by: Kenichi Suzumura)
A self-proclaimed independent journalist who tends to disappear as quickly as he appears. His true identity is unknown. He seems to be gathering information about kaiju.

Keiei Lee (Voiced by: Kaho Kouda)
A computational chemistry researcher on loan to the Shiva Corp., an international joint venture. She reads Mei’s paper online and recognizes her talent.

Bayler "BB" Barn (Voiced by: Ryotaro Okiayu)
The research director of the newly built Upala Institute in India. He is brilliant, proud, and hates anyone smarter than him. He is also someone who pursues the mysteries surrounding kaiju.

Rina Barn (Voiced by: Runa Onodera)
BB’s daughter. Like her father, she has a strong mind and is very curious. She worries about BB, who puts all his energy into his research, and tries to take care of him by doing the cooking.

Yoshiyasu Matsubara (Voiced by: Tomoyuki Shimura)
Colonel of the Ground Self-Defense Force. He is the man on the frontline of national defense. He is honest and serious. He loves his work and puts in more time than anyone else despite being in a management position.

Makita K. Nakagawa (Voiced by: Hiromichi Tezuka)
Keiei’s butler and bodyguard. He has maintained her mansion in London for generations. He has an unparalleled sense of responsibility for his work and is trusted immensely by Keiei.

Tilda Mira (Voiced by: Masako Isobe)
The CEO of Shiva Corp. She is a conservative thinker and is often at odds with Michael and BB.

Michael Steven (Voiced by: Kenta Miyake)
A British Conservative Party politician who works with Tilda. He is a typical elite politician who can get anything done. Though he cooperates with Tilda, they don’t get along well.
