Synopsis

"You're so gross, Senpai!”
Hayase “Hayacchi” Nagatoro is a 16-year-old high school student who looks sweet on the outside but has a devilish side to her and loves teasing and toying with an introverted male classmate whom she calls Senpai. Day in and day out, she tries her best to torture Senpai and make his school life miserable, but is she just being mean or does she secretly have feelings for him?

Background

Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro began as a web manga written and illustrated by Nanashi that began serialization in Kodansha’s digital manga magazine Magazine Pocket in November 2017. Nine tankobon volumes have been published as of November 2020, and it has been published in both a standard edition and a special edition featuring works by several other artists. The manga is licensed in North America by Vertical.

An anime adaptation of the manga was announced in July 2020. It is being produced by Telecom Animation Film and directed by Hirokazu Hanai with series composition and scripts by Taku Kishimoto, character designs by Misaki Suzuki, and music by Gin (BUSTED ROSE). The anime’s opening theme song is “EASY LOVE” by Sumire Uesaka, and the ending theme song is “Colorful Canvas” by Sumire Uesaka, Mikako Komatsu, Aina Suzuki, and Shiori Izawa as their respective characters. The anime will premiere in April 2021 on Tokyo MX, BS11, and MBS.

Characters

Hayase Nagatoro (Voiced by: Sumire Uesaka)
A first-year student at Kazahaya High School and member of Class C. She is tanned except for the areas covered by her school swimsuit. She has been teasing Senpai ever since meeting him in the library one day. She is very athletic and often helps out in the swimming club, and she also frequents the track club as well. She often hangs out with her friends, who call her “Hayacchi” or “Toro-chan.” She has an older brother and older sister.

Senpai / Naoto Hachiouji (Voiced by: Daiki Yamashita)
A second-year student at Kazahaya High School and member of the art club. His real name is Naoto, but Hayase always just calls him “Senpai.” He wears glasses and has a natural perm. He is scared of Hayase and her group of friends who often tease him. He is an otaku and fan of manga, games, and anime.

Gamo-chan (Voiced by: Mikako Komatsu)
A first-year student at Kazahaya High School and member of Class C who has a strong personality and rather long hair. Though she has a tough exterior, she is the older sister of Hayase’s group of friends and is very popular with the girls in her grade. She is strong-minded and enjoys teasing others. She has a friendly rivalry with Hayase. She likes to call Senpai “Paisan.”

Yoshi (Voiced by: Aina Suzuki)
A first-year student at Kazahaya High School and member of Class C who wears her hair in twintails. She is in Nagatoro’s friend group. She is pure and kind-hearted, but she’s a bit of an airhead, and she gets uncomfortable when things get ugly between Hayase and Gamo-chan. She likes to follow Gamo-chan around and gets easily roped into her schemes. She tends to repeat what someone has already just said.

Sakura (Voiced by: Shiori Izawa)
A first-year student at Kazahaya High School and member of Class C with tanned skin and loose, wavy hair. She likes to be pampered by boys. She is an assassin from Hayase’s group of friends who plays the role of circle crasher. She has a bit of a two-faced personality.
