Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita! Precious Friends

The sketch comedy about becoming friends with super cute girls is headed for the big screen! Good friends Hana, Hinata, Noa, Koyori, and Kanon are once again having a fun snack party at home with Miyako’s homemade sweets. They notice that the flower-shaped cookies look just like Hana’s trademark hair clip, a treasured item that was given to her by her grandmother when she was little. The girls get excited to learn about the story, so they decide to visit grandma’s house. The curtain rises on everyone’s first trip together!

Wataten!: An Angel Flew Down to Me started as a four-panel manga written and illustrated by Nanatsu Mukunoki. The series began serialization in Ichijinsha’s Comic Yuri Hime in November 2016. As of June 2022, 11 collected tankobon volumes have been published under the Yuri Hime Comics imprint.

A TV anime adaptation of the series was announced in the third volume of the manga released in June 2018. The anime was produced by Doga Kobo with Daisuke Hiramaki directing, Yuka Yamada writing the script, Hiromi Nakagawa designing the characters, and Takuro Iga composing the music. Both the opening theme song, "Kimama na Tenshi-tachi," and ending theme song, “Happy Happy Friends,” were performed by Maria Sashide, Rika Nagae, Akari Kito, Hitomi Ohwada, and Naomi Ozora as the group Wataten☆5. The anime was broadcast from January to March 2019 and spanned 12 episodes and an OVA.

Wataten!: An Angel Flew Down to Me: Precious Friends is the series’ first film adaptation. It was announced in November 2020 and is being produced once again by Doga Kobo. Returning staff include Daisuke Hiramaki as director, Yuka Yamada as scriptwriter, Hiromi Nakagawa as character designer, and Takuro Iga as music composer. The five-member vocal group Wataten☆5 is once again in charge of the theme songs, which include “Precious Friends!” as the opening theme song and “Zutto… Zutto…” as the ending theme song. The anime will premiere theatrically in Japan on Oct. 14, 2022.
