Synopsis
Koyomi Hidaka is an elementary school student who lives with his father after his parents divorced. One day, he meets a girl named Shiori Sato at his father’s workplace. They become infatuated with one another, but then they learn their parents are getting remarried. They decide to elope to a parallel world where it is promised that they will never become siblings…
Background
Kimi wo Aishita Hitori no Boku e started as a light novel written by Yomiji Otono and illustrated by shimano that was published in June 2016 together with the complementary novel Boku ga Aishita Subete no Kimi e. The novels tell two complementary stories and can be read in either order.
A feature-length animated film is being created for each novel. Kimi wo Aishita Hitori no Boku e is being produced by 6th Studio and TMS Entertainment and features Kenichi Kasai as director, with Riko Sakaguchi penning the screenplay, Shinichi Machida designing the characters, Erina Kojima, Noriyasu Murata, and Yukari Takano as animation directors, and Takashi Ohmama as music composer. The movie’s theme song is "Shion" by Saucy Dog, who is also providing the insert song "Summer Daydream." Both films will open simultaneously in Japan on Oct. 7, 2022.
