Synopsis

Yuhi Amamiya was a painfully ordinary university student until one day when he is asked by a talking lizard to help save the Earth from a crisis. Before he can refuse, he becomes a member of the Beast Knights and is given psychic powers and a domain of control through the power of a ring, and is quickly attacked by enemies. He is saved at a critical moment by the girl who lives next door, Samidare. But contrary to thinking that she is a savior, she is actually a demon queen bent on world domination. Attracted by her ridiculous power and demon queen-like charms, Yuhi becomes her servant and begins assisting her in any way she desires.

Background

Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer started as a manga series written and illustrated by Satoshi Mizukami that began serialization in Shonen Gahosha's Young King OURs seinen manga magazine in April 2005 and ran until August 2010. It was published in 10 collected tankobon volumes under the Young King Comics imprint. The series is released in English by Seven Seas Entertainment.

A TV anime adaptation was announced in January 2022. It is being produced by NAZ and features Nobuaki Nakanishi as director, with Satoshi Mizukami and Yuichiro Momose handling series composition, Hajime Hatakeyama handling character designs, and Takatsugu Wakabayashi composing the music. The anime’s opening theme song is “Gyoko” by Half time Old, and the ending theme song is "Reflexion" by SpendyMily. The anime will premiere in Japan on July 8, 2022 during the Animeism programming block on MBS and TBS stations.

Characters

Yuhi Amamiya (Voiced by: Junya Enoki)
A lizard knight. One morning, he hears from his lizard follower Noi that he has been chosen to become a knight. He pledges allegiance before Samidare’s unprecedented ambitions and joins in her plot to destroy the world.

Samidare Asahina (Voiced by: Naomi Ozora)
A princess to be protected by the followers of the ring. She is an energetic girl with a Kansai dialect. She has explosive offensive abilities using the spirit Anima’s power. After defeating Animus, she plans to destroy the Earth in order to make the world hers forever.

Noi Crezant (Voiced by: Kenjiro Tsuda)
A lizard follower. He values chivalry and has a strong sense of justice and earnestness. He wants to prevent Yuhi's plan to destroy the earth with Samidare, but he also watches over him as he grows.

Anima (Voiced by: M.A.O)
A spirit princess who made a contract with Samidare. She is Animus’ twin sister. She goes at her own pace and is always pushed around by her fellow beast followers.

Animus (Voiced by: Tatsumaru Tachibana)
A powerful wizard and Anima’s twin brother. He always appears aloof and exhausted, and he repeatedly destroys the Earth in order to know the beginning of everything.

Hangetsu Shinonome (Voiced by: Shuuhei Iwase)
A dog knight. He is a master of ancient martial arts and goes by the name “God of Wind” in the underworld. He is a skilled fighter and teaches Samidare and Yuhi how to fight.

Mikazuki Shinonome (Voiced by: Gen Sato)
A crow knight. He is Hangetsu’s younger brother and continues to follow in his footsteps. He normally has a sociable personality, but he’s also crazy about fighting and will fight any strong opponent, whether friend or foe.

Soichiro Nagumo (Voiced by: Tetsu Inada)
A horse knight and a former detective. He is the leader of the knights and has a strong sense of responsibility and a serious personality.

Yayoi Hakudo (Voiced by: Aya Suzaki)
A snake knight. She is a calm and beautiful woman with good style, but when she holds a sword, she becomes swordswoman with decisive judgment. Her hobby is cosplay, but she keeps it a secret from others.

Hyo Shimaki (Voiced by: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka)
A black cat knight. He is a mild-mannered guy who works at a university and conducts psychological research.

Taro Kusakabe (Voiced by: Shunichi Toki)
A rat knight. He is a high school student and is Hanako’s childhood friend. He aspired to become a chef and is in charge of making snacks for Yuhi and Mikazuki when they drink.

Hanako Sorano (Voiced by: Chinatsu Hirose)
A mantis knight. He is a high school student who gets excellent grades and is Taro’s childhood friend.

Subaru Hoshikawa (Voiced by: Chihaya Yoshitake)
A chicken knight. She is a first-year university student and is Yukimachi’s childhood friend. Contrary to her appearance and usual attitude, she has a timid side.

Yukimachi Tsukishiro (Voiced by: Moeha Nochimoto)
A tortoise knight. He is a first-year university student and is Subaru’s childhood friend. He has an easy-going manner but has the strength of mind to be decisive at critical moments.

Taiyo Akane (Voiced by: Mutsumi Tamura)
A 12-year-old owl knight. Due to his family background, he often adopts an onlooker’s attitude. Tired of the conflict with Animus, he heeds the advice of his follower Loki and makes contact with him.

Inachika Akitani (Voiced by: Kazuhiro Yamaji)
A marlin knight. He is a psychic who has lived for over 500 years and trains Yukimachi and Subaru as their master.

Ludo Chevalier (Voiced by: Shoya Ishige)
Hangetsu’s follower. Hangetsu calls him “Noko” after a dog he used to have as a child, which he isn’t a fan of. He survived the last battle to the very end.

Muu (Voiced by: Atsuko Tanaka)
Mikazuki’s follower. He is taciturn and rarely talks.

Dance Dark (Voiced by: Kentaro Kumagai)
Soichiro’s follower.

Shea Moon (Voiced by: Hyousei)
Yayoi’s follower. She is happy-go-lucky and calls Yayoi “Yaako.”

Coo Ritter (Voiced by: Nagisa Kakegawa)
Hyo’s follower. She has a calm way of speaking and ends her sentences with “nano.”

Lance Lumière (Voiced by: Kazutomi Yamamoto)
Taro’s follower. Though he fights with Kil, the two care for each other.

Kil Zonne (Voiced by: Ruriko Aoki)
Hanako’s follower. At first glance she seems ruthless and cruel, but she also has a passionate side.

Lee Soleil (Voiced by: Mitsuo Iwata)
Subaru’s follower. He is short-tempered and belligerent. He thinks of Subaru as his daughter.

Ron Yue (Voiced by: Katsuji Mori)
Yukimachi’s follower. He has a laid-back personality like that of an old man.

Loki Helios (Voiced by: Manabu Muraji)
Taiyo’s follower. He speaks in a philosophical tone. He has doubts about continuing a battle against Animus that cannot be won.

Zan Amaru (Voiced by: Tetsuei Sumiya)
Inachika’s follower.

Hisame Asahina (Voiced by: Azusa Tadokoro)
An assistant professor at the university that Yuhi attends and Sumidare’s sister. She got her PhD at the age of 27. She takes a liking to Hangetsu.
