Synopsis

Set in the near future, Hyper Sports, which are played using extreme gear as support items, have become popular among children and adults alike. Hiyori Hayama is a high school girl and singer who has nothing to do with Hyper Sports, that is until a certain incident sets the story in motion.

Background

Extreme Hearts is an upcoming original TV anime created and written by Masaki Tsuzuki (Dog Days, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, ViVid Strike!). It was first announced by Tsuzuki in May 2021. It is being produced by Seven Arcs (Blue Period, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Triangle Heart: Sweet Songs Forever) and features Junji Nishimura (Bakuon!!, Ranma ½, ViVid Strike!) as director, with Masaki Tsuzuki handling scripts, Issei Aragaki (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Detonation, Pastel Memories, Vladlove) handling character designs and also credited as chief animation director along with Kana Hashidate (Arte, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection, Trinity Seven), and EFFY (The Idolm@ster SideM, Myriad Colors Phantom World, Pretty Boy Detective Club) as music composer. The anime’s opening theme song is “Infinite” by Miho Okasaki. The anime will premiere in Japan on July 9, 2022 on Tokyo MX and BS11.

Hiyori Hayama (Voiced by: Ruriko Noguchi)

Hiyori is a second-year high school student. She is a singer/songwriter who longs for a career in singing and made her professional debut in junior high school. Her favorite instruments are guitar and piano. Though she doesn’t work much as a singer, she continues to work as a studio musician and in sales while creating songs and taking on auditions. She has a gentle and quiet personality but is strongly passionate about singing, music, and making her dream come true. She gets along well with Saki, who is a fan of hers.

Saki Kodaka (Voiced by: Miho Okasaki)

Birthdate: 8/23 (Leo)

Saki is a second-year junior high school student. She is friendly with Hiyori and is her first fan. She played soccer during elementary school, but since retiring she has lost sight of her goals. Since meeting Hiyori, though, she is enjoying her life. She deeply admires Hiyori both as a person and a singer whose songs have helped cheer her up when she’s feeling down.

Sumika Maehara (Voiced by: Kana Yuki)

Sumika is a second-year high school student. She is childhood friends with Saki and is like an older sister to her. She is a baseball player who played in the Little Senior League as a pitcher among male players. Instead of advancing to women’s baseball, she gave up the sport amicably during junior high. She is currently enjoying her peaceful life as a normal girl.

Yukino Tachibana (Voiced by: Ayaka Fukuhara)

Yukino is a second-year high school student. Her family runs the fencing dojo Tachibana-ryu. Though she doesn’t belong to any clubs at school, she trains at her home dojo.

Lise is a second-year high school student. She is a video creator who poses videos online as a hobby. She uploads videos of her own karate demonstrations. She enjoys watching sports.

Hazuki is a first-year college student and Kanagawa’s no. 1 Hyper Sports idol. She is also the leader and center of May-Bee, which won the Extreme Hearts Kanagawa Championship the previous year. She is a talented player who has participated in Hyper Sports since a young age.

Tomo Miyasiro (Voiced by: Saori Onishi)

Tomo is the sub-leader of May-Bee and the team captain. She is the brains and command center of the team. She has the qualities of a leader and organizes her teammates with her calm observations, quick discernment, and sharp tongue. She has known Hazuki for a long time and is her biggest supporter.

Yuriko is a founding member of May-Bee. She is a third-year high school student, though she is often mistaken for an elementary school student due to her short height. She has a sharp tongue and a coolheadedness that doesn't match her appearance.

Chihiro is a first-year high school student and the youngest member of May-Bee. Her nickname is Hiro-kun. She has a serious personality and is an up-and-coming rookie who acts as the team’s second ace.

Teena Merkies (Voiced by: Tomomi Mineuchi)

Uniform No. 6
Teena is the fourth member of May-Bee. She is an exceptionally tall player due to her Dutch nationality and makes the most of her height and physicality during games.
