Synopsis

Arc awakes to find himself cast into another world as the character he plays in a MMORPG. His appearance is that of a skeleton knight, with armor covering nothing but his skeletal body. But if his true form is found out, it’s likely he’ll be misunderstood as being a monster and become a target for others to defeat! In order to stay inconspicuous, he decides to start living as a mercenary. However, he’s not the type to just let injustice go unpunished! An otherworldly fantasy with a skeleton knight who unconsciously starts making the world a better place begins!

Background

Skeleton Knight in Another World began as a Japanese light novel series written by Ennki Hakari and illustrated by KeG that began in October 2014 on the user-generated self-publishing site Shosetsuka ni Naro before being picked up by Overlap in June 2015. As of March 2022, 10 volumes have been published under the Overlap Novels imprint.

A manga adaptation with artwork by Akira Sawano began serialization in February 2017 on Overlap's Comic Gardo website. As of September 2019, nine collected tankobon volumes have been published. Both the manga and light novel are being released in English in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment.

A web radio show began in January 2022 and is being released on Onsen. It stars Tomoaki Maeno and Nene Hieda as its personalities. One episode has aired to date.

A TV anime adaptation was announced in April 2021. It is being animated by HORNETS and Studio KAI and features Katsumi Ono as director and Shigatsu Yoshikawa as assistant director, with Takeshi Kikuchi handling series composition, Toru Imanishi handling character designs, Yoshihiro Nagamori handling monster designs, and eba and Tsubasa Ito composing the music. The anime’s ending theme song is "Bokura ga Oroka da Nante Dare ga Itta" by DIALOGUE+. The anime will premiere in Japan on April 7, 2022 on AT-X, Tokyo MX, Sun TV, and BS11. It will be streamed outside of Asia through Crunchyroll.

Characters

Arc / Arc Lalatoya (Voiced by: Tomoaki Maeno)
The protagonist of the series. After falling asleep playing an MMORPG, he suddenly wakes up in another world. As a skeleton knight, he normally wears armor to hide his true form. In contrast to his appearance, he is fairly playful and good-natured.

Ariane Glenys Maple / Ariane Glenys Lalatoya (Voiced by: Fairouz Ai)
Ariane is an elven fighter. She has a strong sense of justice and is on a mission to rescue her fellow elves who have been unjustly sold into slavery. She has a frank and honest personality.

Chiyome (Voiced by: Miyu Tomita)
Chiyome is a beast girl and member of the Hashin tribe. She is calm and stoic and has a stronger desire than others to save her fellow brethren from discrimination.

Ponta (Voiced by: Nene Hieda)
Ponta is a spirit animal who is referred to as a “cottontail fox.” She is a glutton immediately enticed by delicious food.

Danka (Voiced by: Takuya Eguchi)
Danka is an elven fighter. He works together with Ariane in order to rescue his fellow elf tribe members. He is unsociable and difficult to get to know, but he is a sucker for good food.

Dillan (Voiced by: Kousuke Toriumi)
Dillan is Ariane’s father and is the chief of the elf village Lalatoria. He is quite open-minded among the insular elf tribe.

Glenys (Voiced by: Yuko Minaguchi)
Glenys is Ariane’s mother. She has a gentle personality and a relaxed way of speaking. She also teaches Ariane how to fight with a sword.

Eevin (Voiced by: Rumi Okubo)
Eevin is Ariane’s older sister. She adores her younger sister and calls her Arin-chan. As a fighter, she has exceptional skills with a sword and is on par with Ariane.

Goemon (Voiced by: Ryota Takeuchi)
Goemon is a large man and fellow member of the Hashin tribe together with Chiyome. He is taciturn and finds joy in training more than anything else.

Sekt (Voiced by: Kengo Kawanishi)
Sekt is the first prince of the Kingdom of Rhoden. He is calm, stoic, and calculating. His top priority is the prosperity of the kingdom, and he will go to any lengths to achieve it.

Dakares (Voiced by: Daiki Hamano)
Dakares is the second prince of the Kingdom of Rhoden. He has a frank personality. He is scheming to outwit his older brother Sekt and gain succession to the throne.

Yuriarna (Voiced by: Saori Onishi)
Yuriarna is the second princess of the Kingdom of Rhoden. She is honest and lively. Unlike other members of the nobility, she actively advocates for peace among the humans and elves.

Domitianus (Voiced by: Akira Ishida)
Domitianus is the emperor of the Holy Revlon Empire. He is an arrogant and ambitious man who rose to the role of emperor at a young age. Due to his military origins, he is devoted to weapons development.

Cetrion (Voiced by: Minoru Shiraishi)
Cetrion is a general serving in the Kingdom of Rhoden’s army. He follows the second prince, Dakares. Though cautious and prudent, he sometimes acts boldly.
