OtapediaNeon Genesis Evangelion 64 Game

Neon Genesis Evangelion 64 is a video game released in 1999 only in Japan for the Nintendo 64 console created by Bandai. The game is a single player action game based on the Evangelion TV anime series and the animated film The End of Evangelion. The game plays through the story timeline and the user gets to control and fight as an Evangelion Unit in the majority of the major battles throughout the TV anime and the movie.

Evangelion 64 includes original scenes and the original voice actor cast from the show. The game has multiple levels of difficulty and 3 different styles of fighting.

Gameplay

Neon Genesis Evangelion consists of 3 attack types. The first attack type is the conventional one on one fighting-game style in which the player can move an Evangelion Unit back and forth on a "3D-2D" Course. The player attacks the opponent by using a series of correct commands to perform cinematic attacks and grabs. In addition, the player can make basic punch attacks.

The second attack type is using weapons. Certain parts of the game includes mini-games that are required to be completed to use a weapon. Therefore completing the mission.

The last attack type is a free-for-all, where the player is still on a "3D-2D" Plain and can move and attack freely.

Missions

Mission 8: Bardiel

Bardiel, the 13th Angel that doesn’t actually have a form. A virus that infects and takes over Evangelion Unit-03. A new unit piloted by Shinji’s classmate Toji Suzuhara. Shinji has to stop the berserk Unit 03 and save his classmate.

Mission 12.5: Mass Production Evangelion

In the End of Evangelion movie, Mass Production Evangelion Units are the final Evangelion Units to be produced in secret by SEELE. In the last battle, the user is in control of Asuka and Evangelion Unit 02.

Genuity

This games take very real elements from the anime and brings it into the fighting.

  • AT Field
Just like in the anime, the player must neutralize an Angel’s AT field before any attack can become effective.

  • Synch Rate
In the anime, the synch rate between a pilot and an Evangelion Unit is crucial for control. In the game, the synch rate has has a direct effect on how powerful an attack is. The better the synch rate the more damage can be inflicted.

  • Power Cable
All Evangelion Units are powered by an umbilical power cord. Without this an Evangelion only has an onboard battery that lasts a limited 5 minutes. Just like the anime, if a power cord is cut in the game, the player only has 5 minutes to defeat the enemy.
