Synopsis

The Time Photo Studio is located in a corner of the downtown area, and behind its shabby door are two men with special abilities. The photo studio is run by Toki, who is able to enter the world of a photograph and link with the photographer’s mind, and Hikaru, who is able to understand everything in the world of the photo that happened within 12 hours of the photo having been taken, and the two team up to fulfill special client requests given to them by their agent and Toki’s childhood friend, Rin. The two work under the rule that they must never alter the past, but Toki’s strong sense of justice causes him to neglect that rule, causing dire consequences for the future...

Background

Link Click is an original donghua series produced by Studio LAN with original character designs by INPLICK. It features Li Haoling, who has garnered international praise for his work on Flavors of Youth and Tenkan Shifuku, as director and scriptwriter. Other staff members include LAN who is handling character designs and is also credited as executive producer and chief animation director, Tanji Takumi, Asami Tomoya, and Zhu Lipiao handling art direction, Sanjo Yasuka handling photography direction, and Tenmon, Yuma Yamaguchi, and av4In composing the music. The anime was originally released in China on bilibili in April 2021. It has since quickly gained popularity with its tear-jerking drama that combines elements of suspense and sci-fi, and was ranked the highest among Chinese anime on the worldwide community MyAnimeList. It has also received an impressive high rating of 9.8 on bilibili video, with more than 160 million views since its release. A second season of the donghua was announced at the end of Episode 11.

A Japanese version of the anime will premiere in Japan in January 2022 and features the voice talent of Toshiyuki Toyonaga, Takahiro Sakurai, and Aoi Koga as the main characters Toki, Hikaru, and Rin.

Characters

Cheng Xiaoshi / Toki (Voiced by: Toshiyuki Toyonaga)
The owner of the Time Photo Studio, where he takes on special requests. Despite his dour demeanor, he has a strong sense of justice and a frank personality, but his impulses sometimes interfere with his missions. He is able to “dive” into the world of photography and transfer into the mind of the photographer, directing them at will.

Lu Guang / Hikaru (Voiced by: Takahiro Sakurai)
A mature young man who runs the Time Photo Studio together with Toki. He is calm and collected and is determined to carry out his duties without emotional influence. He is able to understand everything that happened in the photo world within 12 hours of a photo being taken and is able to communicate with Toki during his “dives.”

Qiao Ling / Rin (Voiced by: Aoi Koga)
The daughter of the photo studio’s landlord and Toki’s childhood friend. She has a cheerful and energetic personality and a strong sense of responsibility. She assists Toki and Hikaru in their business as their agent and also collects the rent.
