Synopsis
AiRBLUE is a new voice talent agency with no track record or experience. The members are fledgling voice actresses each with their own dreams of becoming a voice actress. However, despite their passion and drive, they face a harsh reality. Anguish, frustration, conflict. No matter how much they practice, being able to pass an audition and achieve their dreams seems out of reach. How will they face the obstacles that lie in their path on the road to becoming voice actresses? The story of these newbie voice actresses begins here.
Background
CUE! is a next generation voice actress training game produced by Liber Entertainment. The mobile game launched on iOS and Android devices in October 2019. In April 2021, the service was suspended in order to focus on making improvements to the game. When the service will resume has yet to be announced.
A TV anime adaptation was announced in November 2020. It is being produced by Yumeta Company and Graphinica and features Shin Katagai as director, with Tatsuhiko Urahata handling series composition, Motohiro Taniguchi handling character designs, and Ryosuke Nakanishi composing the music. The anime will premiere in Japan on Jan. 7, 2022 during the Animeism programming block on MBS, TBS, and BS-TBS.
Characters
Haruna Mutsuishi (Voiced by: Yurina Uchiyama)
She has wanted to become a voice actress ever since seeing a certain work. She attends a training school, where she was chosen to join AiRBLUE. She is kind-hearted and serious, and sometimes puts others before herself, but she can also be surprisingly stubborn.
Maika Takatori (Voiced by: Nene Hieda)
An energetic high school girl who aims to become a voice actress so she can provide the voices for the series that her younger brothers watch. She speaks her mind without much consideration for others, but in reality she’s just awkward and cares for her friends.
Shiho Kano (Voiced by: Kyoka Moriya)
An aloof girl who doesn’t show much emotion but sometimes toys with those around her with her enigmatic remarks. She has a history of disliking her own voice, but she is interested in becoming a voice actress, where she can use her voice as a weapon.
Honoka Tsukii (Voiced by: Yuna Ogata)
She is a friendly, responsible, and dependable girl but also has an inflexible side. She likes spots and trains herself. She was inspired to become a voice actress by a hero movie she saw when she was a kid.
Yuki Tendo (Voiced by: Ayaka Takamura)
She is a positive and energetic girl who is the mood maker of the group. She aspires to become a voice actress due to her love of robot anime. Her parents live in a restaurant in the downtown area. She has been permitted to become a voice actress but is only given a limited time, so she is anxious to become a full-fledged voice actress as soon as possible.
Chisa Akagawa (Voiced by: Satsuki Miyahara)
A serious and caring girl who came to Tokyo by herself right after graduating high school to become a voice actress. However, she isn’t good at showing her weaknesses to others and often finds herself facing her problems alone.
Airi Eniwa (Voiced by: Mayu Iizuka)
Though she has a negative outlook and no self-confidence, she sometimes surprises the other members with her positive comments. She likes fortune telling and often decides what to do that day based on the results of her morning fortune telling.
Yuzuha Kujo (Voiced by: Manatsu Murakami)
A prim and proper girl from Singapore who became interested in being a voice actress after seeing Japanese anime. Due to being from abroad, she surprises those around her with her individualism and offbeat mannerisms. Due to having lived abroad for so long, she sometimes slips into another language.
Miharu Yomine (Voiced by: Yukari Anzai)
A graduate of a music college who is currently attending graduate school while continuing her voice actress lessons. She calms those around her with her soft demeanor and is often relied upon by others. She is also a professional-level pianist.
Aya Kamuro (Voiced by: Saki Matsuda)
Contrary to her cool appearance, she loves cute things and shojo manga. When she declared that she wanted to become a voice actress, her grandma was the only one who took her seriously and was supportive.
Mahoro Miyaji (Voiced by: Megumi Yamaguchi)
A former child actress, she is respected among the newbies in AiRBLUE. She’s usually a downer, but when it comes to acting she completely switches. Though a lone wolf who doesn’t try to fit in with those around her, she cares about the number of followers she has on social media.
Riko Hinakura (Voiced by: Arisa Tsuruno)
A good-natured girl who treats everyone frankly and is deeply trusted by the other members. She has drive and is the type to act before she thinks. She wants to become a voice actress due to the influence of a voice actress radio show she listened to during her part-time job.
Rie Maruyama (Voiced by: Hina Tachibana)
A chunibyo girl who loves Goth Loli and calls herself Demon Eris. However, underneath that she is actually a serious girl with a strong sense of responsibility. She is also considerate of and attentive to those around her. She is childhood friends with Mei.
Satori Utsugi (Voiced by: Ami Komine)
A calm and collected realist who doesn’t like to break from routine. She’s also an avid otaku who can’t stop talking about her favorite series. Her mother is a famous voice actress.
Rinne Myojin (Voiced by: Mai Sato)
A girl with boundless cheerful optimism who always takes things at her own pace. She calls the other members by the nicknames she created for them. She loves kids and wants to become a voice actress so that she can give dreams to them through her work.
Mei Tomi (Voiced by: Rio Tsuchiya)
A girl of few words who scarcely shows emotion, however she is a genius when it comes to acting. She is particularly good at gaming and can even program. She joins AiRBLUE together with her childhood friend Rie, who wants to become a voice actress.
Masaki Otori (Voiced by: Yoko Hikasa)
A popular voice actress who founded the new voice acting agency AiRBLUE. She often watches over the activities of the agency’s members while leaving them to their own devices, but she also provides solid backup from behind the scenes.
Rio Isuzu (Voiced by: Aya Suzaki)
A friendly and good-natured girl who acts like an older sister to the new voice actresses.She not only accompanies them onsite, but is also in charge of negotiating with clients and managing their schedules.
Kirika Yura (Voiced by: Hiromi Igarashi)
A lesson coach who gives strict and enthusiastic instruction to the new voice actresses. She has a long history working with Masaki, and she understands and supports her dream.
