Synopsis

The year is 20XX, the city is Neo Too Kyo. Outlaws and delinquents fed up with society have banded together to form Tribes, with one tribe for each of the city’s 23 wards, and begin warring with each other. When the warring intensifies, the government steps in and creates a new “XB Law” that permits their fighting, but only through the game of XB (Extreme Baseball).

Background

Tribe Nine is a mixed-media franchise created by Akatsuki and Too Kyo Games. It will consist of a smartphone game, webtoon, and TV anime. The smartphone game is a 3D action role-playing game being developed by Too Kyo Games and published by Akatsuki. The webtoon was announced in September 2021, but further information has yet to be released.

The TV anime was announced in September 2021. It is being produced by Liden Films and features Yu Aoki as director, with Michiko Yokote handling series composition, Yosuke Yabumoto handling animation character designs, and Masafumi Takada composing the music. The anime’s opening theme song is “Strike it Out” by MIYAVI, and the ending theme song is “Infocus” by Void_Chords feat. LIO. The anime will premiere in Japan in January 2022.

Characters

Minato Tribe

Shun Kamiya (Voiced by: Akira Ishida)
The founder and leader of Minato Tribe. He is the main reason why Minato is called the strongest in Too Kyo. He is one of the few people who can use a Beam Bat and is a top-notch pitcher and batter and is also unparalleled in a fist fight. He likes to come up with strange nicknames for his friends. Though charismatic, he also has an offbeat side.

Haru Shirokane (Voiced by: Shun Horie)
A timid and bullied boy who is saved by Taiga and Shun after getting tangled up with delinquents. He is bound by the idea that he can’t do anything, but he joins Minato Tribe after Shun discovers his good eyesight and agility.

Taiga (Voiced by: Chiharu Sawashiro)
A boy who crossed the ocean to come to Neo Too Kyo in order to defeat the strongest man, Shun. He joins Minato Tribe together with Haru. He is an XB rookie and has a hard time learning the rules, but he bravely takes on opponents with his dauntless courage and strength.

Saori Arisugawa (Voiced by: Mai Fuchigami)
The vice-leader of Minato Tribe. Despite her dainty appearance, she is an excellent catcher who can even catch Shun’s fastball. She is the glue that holds the tribe together. She cares about the other members of the tribe but is a stickler for the rules and doesn’t tolerate anyone breaking them.

Santaro Mita (Voiced by: Mutsumi Tamura)
A member of Minato Tribe who insists that he’s the team’s ace when in reality he’s only the reserve pitcher. He’s a pervy sleeze who is often scolded by Saori but shows no signs of changing. He tends to act like a senior to the newcomers, but he is also friendly and takes care of them.

Manami Daimon (Voiced by: Fukushi Ochiai)
A member of Minato Tribe who always supports the others with his warm personality and delicious food. He opened the restaurant Lovely Ocean in the Minato Tribe’s hideout. Though usually calm, he can fly off the handle when he gets mad.

Kazuki Aoyama (Voiced by: Shoya Chiba)
A mysterious young man who appears suddenly and offers to join Minato Tribe. He has an injury to his left hand and can’t seem to properly play XB. However, for some reason he is very knowledgeable about XB tactics and how to use a Beam Bat. He uses his wits to bring the team victory. His true purpose for joining Minato Tribe is unknown.

Nekomaru
Shun’s cat and Minato Tribe’s mascot. He spends his days lounging around Lovely Ocean, where they hang out. He has a trademark star on his right shoulder and back.

Adachi Tribe
Hyakutaro Senju (Voiced by: Kentaro Kumagai)
The leader of Adachi Tribe and their ace pitcher. He uses unique XB gear such as the Fireball and Fire Bat. He is a prideful XB player and will beat up anyone who doesn’t see the game the same way he does.

Rankichi Umeda (Voiced by: Toshiki Masuda)
One of the vice-leaders of Adachi Tribe who is a good-natured mood maker. He is one of the best bikers in the tribe and excels at a tricky riding style that puts enemies at his mercy.

Tatsuto Tatsunuma (Voiced by: Shunsuke Takeuchi)
One of the vice-leaders of Adachi Tribe and the member most well-versed in motorcycles. He knocks over opponents with his powerful riding style. He is the one member who can usually be counted on to be calm and collected, but he can also get carried away.

Ota Tribe

Fucho Sonoda (Voiced by: Junta Terashima)
The leader of the Ota Tribe. He has an extreme aversion to peace and is always sowing chaos, which he will stop at nothing to achieve, whether through robbery or even murder. He deliberately keeps Kiyoshiro, who is trying to kill him, very close. His actions are incomprehensible to ordinary people.

Enoki Yukigaya (Voiced by: Reina Kondo)
A member of Ota Tribe. Despite her cute appearance, she’s a twisted person who will kill someone with a rocket launcher while laughing. She loves to eat and is always hungry. She joins Ota Tribe so that she won’t have to worry about finding food.

Kiyoshiro Haneda (Voiced by: Yukihiro Nozuyama)
A member of Ota Tribe. He has a strong desire to kill Fucho, however his attempts always fail. Him and Fucho fighting has become a part of daily life for the tribe.

Roku Saigo (Voiced by: Kenichiro Matsuda)
A member of Ota Tribe. He is a burly man who is proud of the fact that he is strong enough to easily lift a car. He is a man of few words, and even the other members don’t know what his true intentions are.

Kai Asahikawa (Voiced by: Gakuto Kajiwara)
A member of Ota Tribe and the craziest crook in Ota. He is the team’s driver but has never been able to return to Ota with his car intact. Fucho likes his chaotic driving style.

Taito Tribe
Yajirobe Ueno (Voiced by: Yuichi Nakamura)
The leader of Taito Tribe. He brings the roughty tribe together, beginning with ace player Hanafuda. Due to never taking the stage during inter-tribal disputes, his abilities are shrouded in mystery.

Hanafuda Sakura (Voiced by: Daisuke Ono)
The ace player of Taito Tribe. He is a bit of a womanizer and a pain in the ass, but he also has a righteous and compassionate side and won’t tolerate anything crooked. His batting skills are top notch and he is rumored to be able to use anything resembling a stick as a bat, from a toothpick to a clothesline.

Shinagawa Tribe
Yutaka Gotanda (Voiced by: Wataru Komada)
The leader of Shinagawa Tribe. He also develops and sells XB gear using the latest technology. He often plays XB games against powerful tribes as promotion stunts to sell his gear. Of all the gear he has developed, the Gungnir Alpha series is the most popular.

Minami Oi (Voiced by: Misato Murai)
A member of Shinagawa Tribe and Yutaka’s secretary. She collects and analyzes data on opponents and games using the latest XB gear. She is very fond of Yutaka’s talents, both as an XB player and as a businessman.

Setagaya Tribe
Eiji Todoroki (Voiced by: Kensho Ono)
A member of Setagaya Tribe and a billionaire who makes stacks of money from his businesses and investments. He believes that money makes the world go round and does whatever he can to make more of it. For this reason, he is sometimes called the “Greatest Scum of Setagaya Tribe.”

Chiyoda Tribe
Ojiro Otori (Voiced by: Junichi Suwabe)
The leader of Chiyoda Tribe and the heir to the king of Neo Too Kyo, Tenshin Otori. He was trained from childhood by Tenshin to become the strongest XB player. In order to prove his strength, he challenges tribes all over Neo Too Kyo to XB games.

Tenshin Otori (Voiced by: Hiroshi Naka)
The king of Neo Too Kyo. He is obsessed with XB and trains Ojiro to become his heir by making him the strongest XB player. He is a founding member of the Chiyoda Tribe and is determined to show the absolute strength of the Otori family.

Yui Kamiki (Voiced by: Mikako Komatsu)
Tenshin’s secretary. Though she acts dignified, underneath she is cold-hearted and will carry out any task for the sake of the Otori family.

Other

Judge Robot
A robot that referees XB games. It appears out of nowhere when a game begins and is extremely strict about the rules, mercilessly attacking those who break them.
