Square Enix’s iconic Final Fantasy franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary with an exhibition titled “Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Exhibition - Wakare no Monogatari-ten -” at Mori Arts Center Gallery in Roppongi Hills from Jan. 22 to Feb. 28.
The title translates to “Stories of Farewell Exhibit" with the exhibits themed around experiencing different “farewells” in the Final Fantasy universe.
Visitors will also have a chance to enjoy a guide with the Voice AR System. Attendees can receive headphones through which they’ll be guided through the exhibit and even get to hear synchronized music (including over 50 songs from the Final Fantasy franchise!) and character voices.
Among the highlights of the event are the attraction tour, as well as special Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy XV exhibits titled “The Words Aerith Left Behind” and “The Phantom Wedding” respectively.
The attraction tour will utilize a massive 3.9 x 12 m projection and the headpones from the tour. Visitors “enter” the Enterprise and fly into the world of Final Fantasy, but something dangerous may be waiting on the other side…!
As for the Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy XV exhibits, the former of the two will take you to where players first met Aerith: the deserted Slum Church. The building has been specially brought to life, and visitors will be able to freely walk around it while listening to Aerith’s specially recorded monologue voiced by Sakamoto Maaya.
The “Phantom Wedding,” meanwhile, will invite visitors to the wedding of Noctis and Lunafreya from Final Fantasy XV. It’ll be an entirely new way to experience the last scene of the main story, and the voice talent includes Miyano Mamoru (Ignis), Miyake Kenta (Gladiolus), Kakihara Tetsuya (Prompto), and Isobe Tsutomu (Regis)!
