The doll and figure event Joint Festival was held on Dec. 22 at Tokyo Big Sight in celebration of major figure maker Volks’ 40th anniversary. High-quality dolls, figures, plastic models, and dioramas filled up three halls at Tokyo Big Sight and attracted huge crowds.

Since being established in 1972 as an exclusive shop for plastic models of aircraft, Volks, the sponsor of the event, has devoted itself to releasing figures and dolls and continues drawing attention. One such doll that is still fresh in mind is a Hatsune Miku Dolfie® Dream doll that will be released next year.

The event space was comprised of a market of dealers selling doll products, and tea party space, and more. A bazaar was also created for shops specializing in doll-related merchandise. At a 40th anniversary museum for Volks, people packed in to see dolls spanning the company’s history.

A world record was also challenged at the event. Owners of PVC Dolfie® dolls who came to the event early at 10 a.m. all gathered their dolls together, which amounted to 3,000 total, with their hands joined to create a wonderful new world record.
