Bones producing new Sanrio anime Show By Rock!!
Sanrio, a company that has brought to the world countless popular characters, is undertaking a new character series in spring 2015. Sanrio’s character project Show By Rock!! is getting a TV anime adaptation to air on Tokyo MX and other networks beginning in April.
The theme of the anime is “bands.” The story involves a normal high school girl who played the music game Show By Rock!! and was sucked into the game world where she debuts as Cyan in the girls band Plasmagica. The series will also feature bandmates full of personality. It seems it will be an anime filled with music and characters.
More news to further raise excitement for this talked-about series was released in bulk on Feb. 27. The news consists of a promotional video of the anime, and information on the staff, music, and broadcast.
The first big bit of news to point out is that Bones is credited for animation production. The studio is highly reputed for its animation and drama as seen in such series as Fullmetal Alchemist and Eureka Seven. The PV released at this time also gives a peek at the studio’s quality.
The TV broadcast will kick off on Tokyo MX. After the first broadcast on April 5 at 10:00 p.m. it will air every Sunday. In addition to broadcasting at the easy-to-watch timeslot of 10:00 p.m., episodes will be rebroadcast the following Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. It seems the show will have the potential of gaining a wide audience, from kids to adults.
In addition to Tokyo MX, the anime will also broadcast on Yomiuri TV beginning April 6 at 3:59 a.m. and BS11 beginning April 6 at 4:00 a.m. The anime will also be available on the d-Anime Store, Nico Nico Live, and Nico Nico Douga, making it accessible to a wide number of regions throughout Japan.
Also, an introduction to the series called Show By Rock!! @Niconyama will be broadcast on Nico Nico Live ahead of the anime broadcast on March 5 at 9:00 p.m. Performers will include Eri Inagawa, the voice of Cyana, and Megumi Han, the voice of Daru Tayu.
A stage event will also take place before the broadcast during AnimeJapan 2015 on March 21, but it seems we’ll have to wait for more information regarding this event.
