Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru, a mystery novel with 600,000 copies sold, gets anime adaptation
Kadokawa Bunko has announced an anime adaptation for Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru, a popular mystery novel with 600,000 copies sold. Along with this announcement, a teaser site for the anime and an official Twitter account have opened.
Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru is a mystery novel series written by Shiori Ota. The series transitioned from being serialized on the web to being published by Kadokawa Bunko in 2013. To date, six volumes have been published and the series has recorded 600,000 copies sold.
The main characters, both from Asahikawa, Hokkaido, are Sakurako Kujo, a rich girl who loves collecting bones, and Shotaro Tatewaki, a normal high school boy who gets roped into her schemes. The two investigate and solve various cases involving bones.
The illustrator on the series is Tetsuo, who wonderfully depicts the characters as they are from the original novel. Sakurako is an extraordinarily impactful character who easily manages extreme beauty and style while being a coroner and solving murder cases. We wonder how she will be portrayed in the anime.
In time with the announcement of the anime adaptation, a teaser site and official Twitter account have opened. The site gives an introduction to the original novel series that seems an interesting chance for those who want a synopsis. Volume 7, Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru: Utau Yubisaki, was also released on Feb. 25. The novel costs is 562 yen (tax included).
The only information announced at this time is that an anime adaptation has been greenlit. Information on the staff and cast will be revealed in the coming days. Make sure not to miss our follow-up report.
