Kosuke Toriumi takes on the role of a carnivorous idol?! Also belts out song in JA Zen-Noh’s Zeushi-kun
Episode 4 of JA Zen-Noh’s short anime Oniku Daisuki! Zeushi-kun, “Okiniiri no Idol,” was released on Feb. 28. The series is popular for its adorable characters, surreal settings, and popular voice cast.
The series surprises with each installment with fun topics, and this time the highlight is the appearance of a new carnivorous idol group called Niku Shock Breakers. What’s more is that popular voice actor Kosuke Toriumi is playing the band’s leader, Nick Jagger. He has a large role in the anime and even sings.
In Episode 4 “Okiniiri no Idol,” the idol group Niku Shock Breakers, which heroine Mika-chan loves, appears. Toriumi, who plays talented singer and dancer Nick Jagger, challenged himself with lively idol songs, and belted out the uptempo song “Heat Me Up - Kokusai Sengen.”
In charge of this song was Cheru Watanabe who has created countless songs for series including Gakkyu Ou Yamazaki and Kamen Rider Kabuto, and, of course, the main theme for this series, “Oniku Japonesque.” In charge of the lyrics was Kazuhito Omiya known for “Hold Meat Tight! Konya wa Nigasanai” and “Omae no Kokoro ni Nikuhaku Suru” and others, who wrote lyrics that lay bare their craving for meat.
The 1-minute, 30-second video shows only the beginning, but a full version has been also been produced. A music video slightly longer than the short anime at roughly 4 minutes was also released at the same time. Regarding Episode 4, Toriumi had the following comment to share with fans: “The truth is I actually don’t talk much in the anime (lol), but a national idol from a certain country makes an appearance too, so I think it’s a fun episode. Empty your mind and please enjoy the anime while eating beef jerky!”
Toriumi and director Omiya have also released comments regarding the song, giving a peek into their confidence in the finished work. Enjoy this side-splittingly funny fourth episode and await the fifth episode to be released on March 10.

“I had the opportunity the take on the role of an idol and sing idol songs, and from the moment I read the lyrics, I smiled, thinking, ‘This is interesting,’ and began practicing. That’s a huge compliment!
“Thinking that it might be fun to sing such an interesting song in a more serious way, I sang my heart out at the recording. The song has a catchy chorus too and is really fun, so I hope everyone will join in too and sing it together.”

“This was my first time writing lyrics to a song, and like being caught in a cloud, my mind went completely blank and I couldn't think of anything. But after Cheru Watanabe helped me with the demo for “Oniku Japonesque” I felt like I could see again all at once, and after that I made great strides with work. The song by Toriumi is also phenomenal and I think it has already become a wonderful piece of music that can only be described as timeless! I hope that many people give it a listen!”
