Five years after first going on sale at Magical Mirai 2018, Hashimoto Shitsugei is bringing back dog tags based on Vocaloid characters, this time with a special theme that incorporates seisai-haku foiling and maki-e! Each tag is themed after a different Vocaloid character and incorporates the traditional foil technique seisai-haku on one side and maki-e on the other.

The special gradation inherent in the seisai-haku foil technique makes the design change color depending on the angle light hits it to match the color of the character it’s themed after, while the maki-e side is colored vibrantly in their image color. Due to the nature of the seisai-haku foil technique, each one has a slightly different gradation, meaning no two look exactly alike and each one is one-of-a-kind. Each tag also features the character’s symbol at the top and their name on the back and comes on a necklace chain packed inside an exclusive box. Completely handmade by skilled craftsmen, be sure to appreciate this wonderful collaboration item up close for yourself.
