If you’ve ever watched a fantasy anime and wished you were a wizard too, you are not alone. Daily Portal Z’s Matsumoto Keiji made his wizarding dreams come true thanks to a handy mini projector, some simple graphic design, and a group of enthusiastic friends.
Here’s Matsumoto’s wife trying out the technology for herself.
So, how did he get here? These days you can get yourself a mini projector which fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and can throw images from your smartphone or an SD card anywhere you point it.
To become a magician you’ll need a magic circle, of course! Matsumoto started with a simple circle and pentagram design, and then added in a host of magical looking symbols.
Old fashioned analogue effects at their best!
Looks pretty cool, right?
It doesn't quite work if you want to stand inside your own magic circle, though.
As a result, Matsumoto made a special mode by cutting out the middle of the projection so that you can command your magic from within the sphere!
You can even add in a few props! Try picking up a book (any will do) to look like you’re reciting a chant from a magic spellbook...
You don’t even have to stop at humans either, everything becomes magical when you cast your spell on it! Here, a boring ordinary rock suddenly becomes possessed!
Who knew trees could be so evil!
You can even try it out on your cat...
If you want to look even more powerful you can try throwing some spells in mid air!
All you need this time is to build yourself a cardboard shield!
And here's where it gets a little tricky! First, you'll need to set the shutter speed to about 5 seconds. Release the shutter, project the magic circle onto that handy shield, and after about one second, put it away.
Make sure that the wizard stays still throughout all this, and tada! You have your own powerful magic beam~
So, there you have it! All you need to achieve your magic dreams is a projector, a camera, a kick ass magic circle, and some like-minded friends who will come with you on your journey towards becoming an all-powerful wizard.
