Institution in Japan Becomes First to Offer 2.5D Musical Fine Arts Major!

Jikei Gakuen Tokyo College of Anime, a graduate and vocational school located in Tokyo, will be the first institution in Japan to offer a major specifically geared towards the craft of 2.5D musicals!

The major, which is considered fine arts, will be available for study in April 2018 and will be called the 2.5D Musical World.

In recent years, 2.5D musicals have risen in popularity and basked in the limelight of success - and as with any field, the next era of 2.5D musicals and its bright future will depend on sculpting the talent of capable and passionate individuals!

The 2.5D Musical World major was established for that reason, and will offer an intensive study of four main subjects: essential acoustics, the foundation of operating illumination machinery, planning and operations, and the knowledge of writing. All of the listed subjects are thought to be necessary techniques for categorizing a 2.5D musical as truly successful.

With this specific craft under the student’s belt, they’ll be able to nurture a beautiful coordinated effort with teams that are responsible for stage setting and scenery, props, costumes, room design, and more - all techniques which help transport the audience to a different world where they’ll feel immersed and deeply moved.
