Themed around “toys that make the world smile,” Japan’s biggest toy trade fair, International Tokyo Toy Show 2013, is being held now at Tokyo Big Sight until June 16.
From big-name makers to wholesalers, 148 companies from within Japan and abroad are showcasing roughly 35,000 products at the event. Many TV cameras are inside the venue reporting on the highlights.
Even among the multitude of products is a full lineup targeted at children and elementary school students. Among these are intellectual training toys including 3D puzzles and card games. Another type features popular characters like Anpanman, Pokémon, and Hello Kitty. Also, high tech products for smartphones and tablets that have gained attention from many people are on display.
The event is a spectacle, with each company having their own booth set up and models in cosplay informing attendees on the latest products.
