“7!!” to Perform the New Ending Theme to the Anime Naruto

The band 7!! performs for Naruto once more!

It has been announced that the song “Sayonara Memory” by the band 7!! will be used as the new ending theme to the popular anime Naruto: Shippuden. The announcement was made in the special New Year’s double issue of Weekly Shonen Jump that went on sale on Dec. 10, 2012. The song will be used as the ending theme of the anime starting Jan. 17, 2013.

7!!’s second single, “Lovers”, was used as the opening theme to Naruto: Shippuden in 2011, and received large support from fans. Due to the popularity of Naruto overseas, 7!!’s familiarity has been rapidly expanding. In the fall of 2012, the band performed their first concert overseas at the Anime Festival Asia Indonesia 2012 to an enthusiastic crowd of about 4000 people. They were also selling their CD at the event, which immediately sold out. Performing a second song for Naruto is sure to widen their overseas fanbase even more.

7!! is a four member band from Okinawa who debuted in 2011. The band’s name comes from the name of the lead singer, Nanae. “Nana” in Japanese means “seven” and “e”, or used as an exclamatory “e!!”, means “oops!!” in English.

The CD single for “Sayonara Memory” was released on Feb. 20, 2012. Watch out for this up-and-coming band!
