Yuri Plisetsky is an extremely talented ice skater from Russia in the hit anime Yuri!!! on Ice. He is known by many nicknames such as Russian Fairy because of his short, slender frame, Russian Punk because of his rude behavior, and Yurio, a nickname coined by his sister based on a member of a band she likes.

Yuri’s ice skating coach is Yakov Feltsman. He also takes ballet lessons from Lilia Baranovskaya. Ever since a child he has had a stellar jumping ability. At 12-years old he landed a quadruple salchow despite his coach warning him it would be too difficult at the time. Practicing ballet has also given him above-par flexibility which shows when he holds spirals and spins in a half-Biellmann position which is rare for men because of the flexibility required.

Yuri loves cats and has two of his own as well as often wears clothing with big cat prints on it such as tigers. 🐅 His own loyal fan group the Yuri Angels even wear cat ears because of his fondness for felines. 😻 The person he loves most is his proud grandfather Nikolai Plisetsky who has supported his ice skating ever since he started by taking him to his lessons and attending as many competitions as he can. He’s also known to make him one of his favorite foods, pirozhki. He’s even made him katsudon pirozhki which is a combination of his old favorite food with his newest. 😋

Yes, Yuri is dismissive. He can have a foul mouth. His glares can feel intimidating. He yells. He can seem arrogant. He has a short-temper. But, it’s also equally true that he’s extremely dedicated, truly cares for Yuri Katsuki and his coach as well as is supportive of his friends such as Otabek Altin. His passion and heart, albeit a bit shielded, more than make up for his harsh exterior.
