Capcom’s beloved action platformer, Mega Man, was initially released on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987. Created by Akira Kitamura, the series’ titular protagonist, Mega Man, is instantly recognizable in his blue suit. The powerhouse franchise has been released on everything from the Game Boy and Sega Genesis to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Its incredible influence can be felt across the genre through its innovations in both 2D and 3D platforming.
In addition to its numerous list of adaptations, spin-offs, and sequels, the series’ list of music composers has also included incredible names such as Manami Matsumae (Shovel Knight, Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors) and Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts, Heroes of Mana, Xenoblade Chronicles).
