These small glistening beauties were made to resemble traditional Japanese lacquer paintings sprinkled with gold and silver, known as maki-e. The technique lived its peak during the Edo period, and now it’s here to decorate 21st century stuff like your smartphone! Of course, you might find plenty of other good places for it, but the size is just perfect for the back of a smartphone or a metal pencase. Even if you don’t have a free spot, you can appreciate it the same way you would do with a photo. They come in five variations: Fujin (the wind god), Raijin (the thunder god), a crane, the accomplished writer Murasaki Shikibu, or sakura petals. They are definitely oozing a strong, Japanese aura, so if you like Japanese fine arts or if you happen to be a sticker colllector, it is absolutely mandatory to have one of these peculiar pieces in your album!
