Code Geass began in 2006 as an anime series created by Sunrise, and gained popularity both in Japan and worldwide, especially for its portrayal of moral conflicts between the main characters. 2016 marked its 10th anniversary, during which a three-part compilation film series and sequel project was announced. The latter is now confirmed to be a film that will premiere in 2019.
