Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion began in 2006 as an anime through the studio Sunrise. Directed by Goro Taniguchi (s-CRY-ed, Honey and Clover), written by Ichiro Okouchi (Angelic Layer, Wolf’s Rain, Berserk: Golden Age Arc), and featuring character design by Clamp (Cardcaptor Sakura, xxxHolic, Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle), it had a powerful force behind it and was met with much praise. Its story follows the reserved Lelouch in an alternate timeline where the world is ruled by three superpowers. He is gifted with the mysterious power of “Geass,” or the “Power of the King,” allowing him to control whoever he wants. This action-packed tragedy and mecha franchise now spans across a variety of media including light novels, manga, and video games.
