Kimi no Na wa. Releases Blu-ray & DVD Promo Videos with New Audio!

The Blu-ray and DVD for Shinkai Makoto’s world-renowned hit movie Kimi no Na wa. ( your name. ) just came out on July 26, and they've fast become some of the most sought after items on various webshops. To commemorate this, they released two promo videos featuring re-recorded audio from Kamiki Ryunosuke (Tachibana Taki) and Kamishiraishi Mone (Miyamizu Mitsuha).

During the scenes featured, they are both in each others’ body. Taki’s version shows Mitsuha working hard at Taki’s job, while Mitsuha’s version highlights an interaction with her classmate.

Grossing over 25 billion yen since its release on Aug. 26, 2016, Kimi no Na wa. is the second biggest hit in anime history, only preceded by Miyazaki Hayao’s Spirited Away. It caused a sensation not only in Japan but overseas as well, ranking at the top in seven Asian countries and setting records as the highest grossing Japanese movie in four. Kimi no Na wa. also made its U.S. premiere on April 7, 2017, bringing in more than 5 million dollars.

The Blu-ray Collector’s Edition comes with five discs and includes nearly nine hours of bonus footage, such as storyboard by director Shinkai Makoto, the making process, and unused sound clips. The Collector’s Edition is priced at 12,000 yen, the Special Edition at 7,800 yen, the Standard Edition at 4,800 yen, and the DVD Standard Edition is 3,800 yen (not including tax).
