Jan. 20 Is One Week Friends Day! Kaori & Yuki Web Spots Released

One Week Friends is a popular manga series with a combined total of more than 1.7 million volumes sold that has branched out into other media including anime, a stage play, and even a live-action movie starring Kawaguchi Haruna and Yamazaki Kento coming out next month. And on Jan. 20, two fresh web spots for the movie were released. Since it was “One Week Friends Day,” two web spots were released right off the bat, one focusing on Kaori (Kawaguchi Haruna) and one on Yuki (Yamazaki Kento).

This romantic story loved by countless fans centers on the budding friendship of high school student Hase Yuki and Fujimiya Kaori, a girl in his class who loses her memory every week and to whom he can’t help but feel drawn to since the day they first met. Besides Kawaguchi and Yamazaki, the movie will also feature a colorful cast with Matsuo Takashi from the boy band Bullet Train, Uesugi Shuhei, Takahashi Haori, Furuhata Seika, Totsugi Shigeyuki, Ito Sairi, and Okada Keisuke from the comedy duo Masuda-Okada.

Kaori’s web spot starts from the scene where she tells Yuki, “I might forget many times, but I will remember.” Kawaguchi is channeling both her cuteness and heart-wrenching background, such as when she says, “I wanted high school to end soon, but I feel different now,” with gratitude in her voice or, “How could I have forgotten such an important thing?” They put out so many feels in just half a minute!

Yuki’s starts off with him saying, “I will say this every Monday. Please be my friend,” with a bright, broad smile. His situation isn’t exactly easy either, but he continues to care for Kaori, which he even puts into words: “I don’t mind if you forget about me every week.”

What will become of Kaori and Yuki in this absolutely adorable and tear-jerking movie? Find out in theaters when the movie releases in Japan on Feb. 18.
