As you draw Chopper of the Straw Hat Pirates on paper, he comes alive on the giant screen before you. When you touch him, he can do a variety of actions. Suddenly Digital Art Island’s original character, the evil scientist Dr. Boram, appears and everyone’s Choppers attack him.

The Tontatta tribe from the One Piece anime live on this table. They run around the table without noticing you. When you touch or set something on the table, though, they notice and jump on it. Digital Art Island’s original character, the evil scientist Dr. Boram, will sometimes appear
and chase around the Tontatta tribe, so use your hand or something you have on you to help the Tontatta clan get away from him.

▼Team Lab Islands -Learn and Play! Amusement Park of the Future-
As society continues to grow and develop, technology grows, as well, and continues to replace the need for employees. We can’t begin to imagine the kind of jobs our children will be doing 30 years from now. The need for the one thing that can’t be done by a machine - creativity - will become the most important thing.

Humans are, by their very nature, creative. Despite that, our current education system focuses on training its students based on questions of “right” and “wrong.” In fact, sometimes acting in a unique way is treated as not only just “not right,” but instead “wrong,” and thus corrected. As a result, creativity is lost out of fear of being wrong without realizing it. In real life, though, “right” isn’t just one thing with all else being wrong. A right answer is just one chosen out of infinite correct possibilities. Creativity is born without boundaries, using interactions between different fields to surmount problems without clearly correct or incorrect answers.

We evaluate ourselves based on tests we take alone, which has led to us only thinking about ourselves. People are also getting pulled into their smartphones. It’s possible to connect mentally with others through phones, but physically you’re still alone.

We learn about this world through experiences with other people, and about ourselves. When we think creatively with other people, we’re able to come up with even more creative solutions. Having creative experiences with other people is an extremely important thing.

This project was born from a wish for people to be able to share in the experience of moving around creatively in an art-oriented space with other people. The thought is that enjoying this makes it possible for every day to be a little closer to the experience found in this space.
