Tokyo-based dental beauty salon PureCure has made the headlines before thanks to their staff of extremely handsome butler dentists, but now they’re offering a new “Character Smile” service where you can have one of your favourite characters stuck onto one of your teeth! This exciting new way to spruce up your smile begins May 15, 2016. Seeing as this is a completely new thing it’s understandable you might be nervous about it, so PureCure is also taking applications to try the service out for free if you’re willing to provide feedback and allow your photos to be posted online.
Character Smile and the Japanese character boom!
Have you noticed pretty much every area of Japan and every single company has its own character mascot these days? There are almost more characters than actual people right now. It’s only natural then that you’d want all characters all the time! You’ve seen them on your smartphone cases, you’ve seen them on your stationery, but now it’s time you see them somewhere else too…your mirror!!!
Dental beauty salon PureCure is right ahead of you and has come up with a way you can spend all day and all night forever and ever with your favourite characters by sticking one on your tooth. This is all kind of new though, so they’re taking applications for a free trial running from May 15 until the end of June.
So, about that - what is the Character Smile service?
Don’t get too excited, they aren’t offering you free dental care. They will clean your front tooth though and then use the same kind of resin glue you use for nail art and other dental uses to put your character on so it won’t damage your teeth in the long run. (The regular service including front tooth cleaning usually costs 5,000 yen including taxes)
