New information about the new anime, Danganronpa 3: The End of Kibougamine Gakuen, has been revealed!
Starting July 2, 2016, two arcs will be broadcast simultaneously with a total of two episodes a week. Back in March at Anime Japan 2016, it was reported that Mirai Hen (Future Arc) would air in July 2016. In addition, it was revealed that the Zetsubou Hen (Despair Arc) would begin in July as well.
The new visuals unveiled for Zetsubou Hen featured many returning characters, much to fans’ anticipation. The new anime will be the final chapter of the Kibougamine Gakuen series featuring an original story by Kazutaka Kodaka.
The cast for both Mirai Hen and Zetsubou Hen have been revealed with 16 characters from Mirai Hen and 15 characters from Zetsubou Hen. Of all the characters, only Gekkogahara Miaya’s voice actress hasn't been announced.
The Danganronpa series started as a game in 2010 with the release of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc (Danganronpa: Academy of Hope and High School Students of Despair). The story takes place in Kibougamine Gakuen where chosen talented students are trapped within the confines of their school and forced to kill one another for freedom. Class Trials take place to figure out who the culprits of the crimes committed are. In July 2012 the game sequel, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, was released and a few years later came the animated series together with other media releases. A third game installation to the franchise is planned for later this year..
