This year marks the 40th anniversary since the founding of Sanyo Shinkansen and the 20th anniversary since the TV broadcast of Evangelion began. In celebration, the “Shinkansen: Evangelion Project” has begun and the Evangelion shinkansen will begin service in Hakata, Osaka on Nov. 7.
On Oct. 19, a video was posted to a joint YouTube channel that’s a must-see for shinkansen and Evangelion fans in which you can see the train’s interior and what it’s like traveling on it. Check it out below!
Not just the outside but also the seats and seat covers have Unit-01 colors, and the first train car is set up like Unit-01’s cockpit that passengers can hop aboard and enjoy a game on; the train’s wonderful build is enough to make any Evangelion fan shriek. It will be in operation until March 2017.
