Production has been announced on a new work for the popular anime The Heroic Legend of Arslan which broadcast for two seasons from April of this year. This news was revealed at the fan event “The Heroic Legend of Arslan Yashasuiin! Carnival” held at Tokyo Dome City Hall on Sunday, Oct. 11.

Details will be announced from hereon on the official site and Twitter. It seems fans won’t be able to divert their gaze off of The Heroic Legend of Arslan just yet.

The Heroic Legend of Arslan started as an epic fantasy novel series by author Yoshiki Tanaka that began being published in 1986. Tanaka’s other standout series include Legend of the Galactic Heroes and Soryuden.

A manga based on the original novel series by Hiromu Arakawa, known for such hits as Fullmetal Alchemist and Silver Spoon, began serialization in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2013. The manga gained huge acclaim for being a collaboration between a popular author and popular manga artist. The TV anime is based on this manga.

The TV anime just recently reached its finale with the broadcast of episode 25, “The Highway of Blood and Sweat.” It depicted the battle in the Keep of Saint Emmanuel between the Parsian army headed by Arslan and the Lusitanian army headed by Hilmes.

Because of how long of a story the novel series has, anticipation has built for the manga, anime, and further developments. It’s safe to say that production on a new anime in response to fan support is indeed good news. What will we see from this new anime? Keep it here for more reports to come.
