The Junk Story: hide 50th Anniversary Film and WagakkiBand Concert Movie will be screened at New York Comic Con (NYCC) as part of the New York Super Week 2015! This will be the U.S. premiere for both films.
Junk Story: hide 50th Anniversary Film is the first ever documentary about hide (Hideto Matsumoto, 1964-1998) who is remembered not only as as a world-famous Japanese rock musician, but also a legendary icon for nonconformist youth and a late X Japan member, as well as a talented solo artist, singer, and guitarist. The list could go on and on! The film was created in commemoration of hide’s would-have-been 50th birthday. A must-see for hide fans, it offers a personal look at the musician, singer, and songwriter’s philosophy, aspirations, and intellect. The film will be screened at the IFC Center on Friday, Oct. 9 at 9:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online here.
WagakkiBand is adored for their unique musical style that incorporates traditional Japanese instruments and traditional Japanese poetry recitation. WagakkiBand Concert Movie includes footage from one of WagakkiBand’s most memorable concerts in Japan. Perhaps you’ve heard their song “Senbonzakura”? It has over 25 million views on YouTube! Their U.S. debut concert at Anime Expo 2015 and recent debut at first place on the Japanese charts for their album Yasou Emaki are evidence of their great fame in Japan and the U.S. The film will be screened at the IFC Center on Monday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online here.
