A second edition of the 40-year Comiket chronicle 40th Comic Market Chronicle sold during Comic Market 88 held this September has been released. Sales began Oct. 1 on Comiket’s online specialty shop for used doujinshi. There are also plans to sell it this december at Comiket 89 as well. PDF files have also been made available of the 30th anniversary Comic Market 30’s File. With these, you’ll be able to look back at the history of Comiket, which shows bustling attendance year after year.
The 40th Comic Market Chronicle was planned to be sold at both Comiket 88 and 89, but because of sales that vastly exceeded estimates, the first edition sold out at Comiket 88. Because of this, attendees had been crying out for a reprinting.
The confirmed reprint is no doubt a joyous announcement for both those who couldn’t get their hands on it at this summer’s Comiket and those who can’t make it to this winter’s. Corrections of misprints from the first edition are also fully reflected in the reprinted edition for the reader’s full understanding, meaning that descriptions are more accurate than before.
40th Comic Market Chronicle isn’t just a comprehensive look back at the entire 40-year history of the event, it was created around a concept focussing on the 10 years not covered in the 30th anniversary Comic Market 30’s File published in 2005. With sales for Comic Market 30’s File having already ended, the Comic Market Preparatory Committee has revealed its plan of making it available for free.
That’s right, the PDF files of Comic Market 30’s File have finally been made available. By reading these two books, you’re bound to have a deeper understanding of the history of Comic Market, from its founding in 1975 to present.
