A look into booth displays produced by creative production and design companies TeamLab and Kayac for the The Boy and the Beast Exhibition.
Director Mamoru Hosoda’s anticipated newest film, The Boy and the Beast, will be available in theaters starting from July 11. Accompanying the release is a special The Boy and ehe Beast Exhibition that will be held in Tokyo’s Shibuya Hikarie and open to the public from July 24. This exhibition will not only display content related to the newest film, but also invite visitors to thoroughly explore the world of Mamoru Hosoda by taking deeper looks into The Girl Who Leapt Through Time from 2006, Summer Wars from 2009, as well as Wolf Children from 2012.
With over 300 pieces of artwork, layouts, original images, background art, and other unique displays from Mamoru Hosoda’s creations, the exhibition is the perfect place to learn more about his films and his thoughts.
In addition to the impressive collection of art, various interesting collaboration displays will also be available. Creative ultra-technologist group TeamLab and Kayac, a corporation created purely for the generation of amusing content, took things into their own hands and did what they do best.
The ultra-technologists are well known for their amazing creations fusing technology and creative art. This time, they are offering the TeamLab Studio Kumatetsu Dojo as well as the TeamLab Camera for visitors of the exhibition. At the Kumatetsu Dojo, visitors will have the chance to train directly with Kumatetsu and learn all about swordsmanship just like Kyuta does in the new film. In addition to a truly one-of-a-kind experience, TeamLab also offers something for visitors to take away with them. The TeamLab Camera puts the visuals from the films’ posters at the hands of its users, and allows them to create original movie posters that will be uploaded onto the official Facebook page of the exhibition.
On the other hand, Kayac will present visitors with a chance to relive the most memorable scenes from Hosoda’s previous films. Their display includes the emotional farewell between Makoto and Chiaki in The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, an attraction using the family’s new house by the mountains in Wolf Children, as well as Kenji’s “Yoroshiku onegai shimaaasu!” and the World of OZ in Summer Wars.
The exhibition will offer so many ways for visitors to enjoy the works of Hosoda Mamoru. Each and every display contains something special and unforgettable for fans.
Open from July 24 until Aug. 30, the The Boy and the Beast Exhibition is a perfect way to add a little more excitement to summer vacation. Enjoy the film and the exhibition together for a truly unique experience!
